Our local KTM dealership (Pro Moto Sports in Woodstock, GA) had the KTM demo truck up at TWO this weekend.   I got there early this morning and was able to score a demo ride on the 950 Super Enduro (street only demos Sad).

In a word - Wow.
That bike is pretty dang cool.  It *feels* much lighter and more flickable than my 640 Adventure, and has power that my old LC4 only dreams of.  The torque is pretty good - not what my Buell has - but more than adequate and that LC8 engine feels like it has endless revs.  Brakes were great on the street, without being too powerful for dirt use.  The Magura hydraulic clutch that KTM uses now is so nice - I wish my Adventure had one!  The SE is an awfully tall beastie - I've got fairly short legs, but manage my Uly and Adventure just fine - I could see the seat height on the SE being a bit troublesome in some situations for me.

It's unfortunate that a bike that that would be wasted around here - it's too big and too powerful for the tight stuff off road and too fast for the FS roads (you'd have the rangers ready to shoot you!).  On pavement in the twisties, it actually handles very, very well.

If I had endless funds to spend purely on a machine for sh*t eatin' grins, wheelies, and getting my license seized - this would be on the short list.

So you think the maintenance wouldn't scare you?  Smile

They are pretty cool. The guy at the KTM shop here trying to sell me a 990 rides one and raves about it but thinks he'll go back to an adventure because it's more practical for him. They look kick ass though.

That is the sole reason that I don't have an LC8 bike.  I'd love to trust one as my daily ride, but I'm not quite there.  It's a shame too, because I really do like the Adventure.  I switched bikes for about 20 miles of twisties this weekend (my Buell for a 950 Adventure) and the Adventure was pretty cool.  Both bikes are great - I want them *both* - and so did the owner of the Adventure Smile

As far as the 950 Supermoto, honestly for a purely street ride, I preferred the handling and flatter torque curve of my Buell.
