I was wondering who would be the first to put out a bike that mimmicks the rear end of the 800cc MotoGP bikes. Now I know and I don't think it came accross the way I imagined it would.
New ZX-10
De Puniet's bike
Oh well, the good news is this bike will save the skin of some gearless chick pillion since there's no room.

Looks like it has even more of a angle than De Puniet's.
With a tail like that they should drop the ZX-10 and rename it the "Scorpion".

Pass. That tail section is just bad. Looks like a poor afterthought to me.

Just when I thought sportbikes couldn't look any more uncomfortable, Kawasaki takes the "ass in air" design one step further.
And there is a back seat. It's under a piece of plastic and is probably the size of a small hand towel. Kinda useless, but they keep putting them on the supersports.
Pass.

Front seat doesn't appear to be much larger than a small hand towel either and maybe only as thick as two small hand towels. I might last 15 mintues on that one...... maybe.

I've always pondered this....is it a DOT requirement that a bike have passenger accomodations from the factory?
Supersports are essentially racebikes with lights these days. Why bother with passenger crap? Yeah, I know chicks sometimes get on the back, but it's utterly ridiculous when I see them going down the road. Looks like they're about to fall off while in the fetal position.

+1
BUT, I do enjoy seeing the chicks in the short skits on the back of them as their boy cruises downtown. It gives me something to look forward to when I go downtown w/ the wife to get some icecream.

Could the reason they have the pillion seat is for homogolation ( or however the hell it's spelled! ) rules? Maybe it's easier to mass produce something like that for the gen pop and people can still find a way to justify buying one to their significant others by saying...Yeah...there's a seat you can ride on!

OMG is that thing fugly...and I'm a Kawi fan!!!!
I have noticed a trend that the side fairings are becoming minimalist. They show about as much of the engine as a naked. Personally, I like the plastic on a sport bike. My 06 gixxer 750 suffers from the same problem. Maybe I'm not hip to the styling changes.

It's about time they just lost the rear seat on a dedicated sport bike. I applaud that move.

I don't think there is any DOT requirement that a bike has to have passenger accommodations, ie:Ducati monoposto. I agree that they should take them off, seems like an easy way to save some weight.

i guess i'm the minority because i think i'm in love
i would like to see some different angles other than just side pics (lame release imo) and then in person and colors like red or white but damn it looks to be a winner to me.
oh, i agree, i'd rather pay for a passenger seat and pegs from the dealer if i wanted them than have to pay for a seat cowl for a sportbike.

bloody hell that thing is ugly, and I've always found Kawis to be the most attractive sportbikes.
This ass-in-the-air look has become a totally absurd comic-book caricature.

Put a new can on that and it is way hawt
! Rode a friends 06 and found it to be way more comfy than one would guess. The reach to the bars was nice and close. The incredible amount of power on tap is absolutely intoxicating, it made me giddy. I would love one but I'm not nearly mature enough.
