Apologies if you read this already in a different place but a few ST.Ners assure me I should post here and be a proper attention ho.  Smile

Mods, feel free to move this if you need but I felt it captured the spirit of riding, fun, getting new stuff, and splorin new places!

Ever since I took a test ride on a 990 I've been agonizing over figuring out when, if and how I should buy one. And I've been pretty good about keeping it to myself and not driving my wife insane about it. I figure I'll be practical and try to sell my touring bike in the spring and then get the Adventure...

Early in the morning I get this email at work from my wife:

----
Do you want me to go hold your hand today at lunch while you go buy your motorcycle?

CB
----

Heh heh, she's pretty funny but I have to go to a meeting now...

When I get back to my desk I see this in my inbox:

----
Do want me to commit for you and go get the color you want and do all the paperwork and then you can just come pick one up and not worry about the finance stuff because I will have taken care of it.

CB
----

Man she must have had fruit loops for breakfast or something because this is way out of character. We're normally pretty cautious when it comes to buying big stuff. I replied with something witty and practical and went off to lunch.

Then after lunch I get this:

----
Come on, I am picking you up at lunch (noonish) and we are going to go get you your bike. That is why we work. If you don't I may just go do it myself and then you are stuck with the color I pick.

Reply please.

CB
----

WTF?  Headscratch

I missed her for lunch and I need to ask her what is going on but I have to go to yet another meeting.  Sleepy

When I get out of my meeting I get a call from the security desk. They have a package for me. It's probably just some crap from Microsoft that wouldn't fit in my mailbox.  Rolleyes

So I head over to the security desk...
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

And the guard hands me this:

That's when I almost shat my dockers right there in the front lobby. Inside there was a card telling me I needed to call MotoSports and tell them what color I wanted.

.
.
.
.
.

And a few hours later I picked up this:

And I love it! My man bags are on backorder but this bike will be the perfect sport tourer for Idaho. And it's pretty quick too.  Bigok

That's my story.

So I've been wondering, is this still a sport touring bike and can sill hang out with you guys? Can I still be a ST.Ner?

Here's a visual aid to go with my question. He's running the OEM Scorpion tires too. Nevermind the form of the guy in front of him.  Smile

If your excuse for not taking it to 4.5 involves back ordered bags, I can save some space for your stuff in my cavernous FJR bags.  Bigsmile

Watch it man.  My wife surprised me with my VFR for Valentine's Day 2005, then told me she wanted a divorce after I got back from WRCM 2005 in June.  hehe

Just kidding.  We were on the rocks way before that.  Congrats, man.  I'm jealous.  I'll have a bike for WCRM 2008 even if it's an Aero 50 scooter, damn it.  =)

My wife hasn't gone so far as to do all this, but I could see it happening.   Inlove

She did help me swap an engine today on two Goldwings.   Bigok  Does that make her count as a supportive spouse?

Nice motorcycle XLR8.  It will work very nice on those Idaho roads.  I assume that we will be seeing more ride reports in the dirt section.

I would vote that you can stay here.  Even if I see you post once in awhile on that "other" site.
