On Friday I had my first ride with the new camera and bullet cam etc. I placed the microphone that came with the kit inside my tank bag with the camera and the results are patchy at best, down right crap at worst  Crazy It sounds like wind noise but not sure how that one works when it is inside the tank bag, maybe it is just vibration through the fabric of the bag against the fluff around the mic?  Headscratch
So where does everyone put their mic so that you can hear the exhaust and engine nicely but you don't get any crap wind noise or saturation of the sound channels?

Try wrapping some fabric tape around the mic and putting it back inside the tankbag. Like the white serrated tape used in hospitals and clinics.

If that isn't enough, try another layer or two of fabric tape. That ought to muffle it enough.

Do you already have one of those foamie covers on the mic? I f so, I'd put the tape on first, then the foamie cover next.

Yeah there is already a foamie on there so I'll give the gauze tape a try... I was thinking of cunning ways of hiding it inside the fairing but that just creates more wires I have to plug and unplug when I get on and off the bike  Crazy
Extra fluff sounds like an idea worth trying so long as no one says the tank bag is a completely idiotic place to keep the mic Lol  Bigok

I usually put it in the tank bag or in the map pocket on the top of the tank bag. I've also cable tied it to the back of the tank bag so it's out of the wind.

Never had a problem with any of these methods. Just try a few different things until you find something that works.

The other thing that I just thought of is that I might have the volume on the camcorder a bit too high which is causing distortion...  Headscratch

Yeah I'll have to try a few positions and stuff, I was just hoping I could be lazy and benefit from other people's experience Lol
