I'm a little confused about the Garmin Mapsource products.

Will the Mapsource provide detailed street directions to my GPS?  Can I plan routes on the mapsource program, and then push them to the GPS?  I do know that this unit has some navigation capabilities, but unsure of how much.

I will be mounting my GPS to the motorcycle, just didn't know if this setup would do what I want.

Thanks in advance,

Don't know about your specific model, but...

Mapsource will do what you want it to.

I have a Legend Cx which is essentially yours without the compass feature. I had to purchase City Nav for it.
I just completed a 5 day 1800 mile trip and it worked flawlessly. I bought it mainly to be able to find gas, restaurants, and our planned accomodations. In all of these situations, it worked great.
I mounted it on my handlebars with the RAM mount and when I'm navigating, I adjust the mount so that the unit is higher and more in my field of vision. I just have to glance down.
When I'm not navigating, I reset the trip meter so that I have a running tab of my trip.
When just taking a cruise, I like the ability to glance down and see what road i'm on or what street is coming up.
Yeah, would a larger display be nice, yes. Would it be nice to hear the directions, yes. Did I want to spend 500 bucks for a Zumo, no.
I like using my maps, but I really wanted it to be able to find my way out of the boonies of Northern Maine. It did so flawlessly. Yes, you can plan trips on Mapsource and download to the unit. It works exactly the same as any other nav unit that you can buy, just in a smaller package. I also like that it works on regular batteries and doesn't have to be wired to the bike. If I get off the bike, it fits right in my pocket. It's loaded with all poi's too.

Why don't HD riders wave back? Is it my deodorant?

My 60C will not take the specific route I plot on the computer--it automatically recalculates the route after download.  Does the eTrex Legend Cx/Venture/Vista do the same thing?

I know that I can download a route into it, but I never actually tried it. For me it would be too much of a pain to have to keep looking down to read the directions for an entire trip. To do it do find the restaurant or the hotel, it's fine. That's all of the distraction that I need.

The eTrex Legend Cx will, indeed, recalculate the route.  If the route preference settings on MapSource and the receiver are the same the routes should be close.  However, any sections of the route which you had to manually edit in MapSource may be hosed again.  One way to force the rerouting to go as you want is to put in more waypoints.
