Craigslist ad had a '93 zx6  just a few blocks away.  When the guy sounded willing to trade i rode the klr up to his house to compare.

he wanted $2100 for the zx and in the pics it looked pretty good.

up close?  a little scary.
- choke linkage not firmly attached.
- start button intermittent
- aftermarket pipe a little louder than i like
- gas tank not correct for the bike.  when one guy asked if the petcock was closed the other said - it doesn't have one. EEK! since tank isn't correct previous owner fabricated an airbox that doesn't quite agree with the jetting.
- rust in the gas tank
- obvious bondo'd body work not visible in the jpg's

what the heck - i test drove it anyway.
Down side: carbueration.  My right calf wanted to charlie horse up the second I put my foot on the peg.  it relaxed after a bit.
Upside: handling was rock solid and when fuel delivery was good, it had a nice punch from about 5k i don't get on the klr and barely get on the concours between 6k-8k.  [concours probably makes the same power but is lugging so much more weight]

I felt bad for the kid, as his baby's momma was watching us the whole time hoping I'd put some money in his hand.  but I just couldn't give up a good starting, good running klr for bunch of parts that had been patched together to make a zx.

The experience does have me jonesing for a 600 now though.  couple yr old zzr 600 maybe?

I'm kinda partial to this one http://www.reptilesmagazine.com/mcn/model_eval/MCNdec05600s5.pdf

If I could I'd hang onto the KLR.  That's another one I want.  Actually thinking about making one my bagger.

Since you have a Connie, I'd keep the KLR. The ZX6E is a decent sport tourer and much lighter than your Connie but the differences aren't huge. The KLR at least gives you the option of riding dirt roads. Of course if you've already done Labrador.......
