Hey all,

I noticed that Tourmaster has recently added shorter sizes in their riding pants. Being vertically challenged, that is very good news for me because I can start buying "off the shelf" so to speak. Some might ask, so what? Well, when you have to pay $75 to $100 per garment to have them custom fitted, that hurts. The only other choice is to buy from one of the custom companies to start with which limits your choices really quickly and you end up paying $300 to $400 for a pair of quality riding pants. The Tourmaster prices are right in line with their other gear. What's more, I wrote to them to inquire about jackets with shorter sleeve lengths too. They responded with this:

"Thank you for your interest in Tourmaster.com. We have just begun to venture
into the shorter and taller inseams on our pants as well as plus sizes on
our jackets as we are wishing to be accommodating to riders of all shapes
and sizes. We have yet to create a jacket in a short size, but they are
currently available in tall. I have spoken with the product development
department in regards to this and they said that they will keep it in mind
for future product development."

which is encouraging at the very least. Maybe if some of you fellow vertically challenged folks make inquiries and maybe purchase a pair of the pants with shortened inseams, they will move forward with shorter sleeve lengths in their jackets and we all benefit from it. (including them). When I first got back into riding again in spring of 2000, I made the decision to start wearing full protective gear. I soon found out about the expense and difficulty in fitting a 34" waist and a 27" inseam and similar measurement deficits in jackets.

Here is a link to the sizing chart on their Venture pants; http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/pages.php?pagenm=size_tourmaster_textile_pants
and I promise I have no connection whatever to the company; just really excited about finally being able to get fair prices on stuff that may actually fit without expensive alterations.

So, you guys and gals who may need this service, get out there and take a look, ask some questions, & maybe we can get a fair shake on good gear.

Cruisin,

If you are in the market for a 1pc perforated leather suit, joe rocket makes/made one that is shorter than the rest of their offerings.  Let me know if you want me to find out the name for you.  It's a nice top of the line track suit, but due to the non-standard fit you can find them barely used if you look.

Cruisin,

Appreciate the heads-up, but I'm terribly interested in leather nor one-piece suits.

On another note to update the Tourmaster situation; I recently ordered a pair of the mesh pants from Tourmaster and even though the shortest length with my waist size isn't quite right, it is far better than the other brands where their "one size fits all" version is typically about 8" too long for me (27" inseam). I think I could easily cut these off about 2" and they would be perfect. But for 2", I may just live with the less than perfect fit. It is so much better than any other off the shelf fit that I have had I am very pleased.

One really impressive thing about the Tourmaster deal is that when I ordered from their website, I accidentally scrolled to the wrong style pant and ordered one that did not come in shorter length. I E-mailed the service center and explained the problem asking what we could do to correct MY screw-up. They sent me a return authorization number and within two weeks, I had the correct pants at my door. All the error cost me was my shipping costs back to them. Tourmaster gets  Thumbsup Thumbsup  from me for both quality of their product, and their outstanding customer service.

So, for those of you seeking a reputable company to buy shorter inseam riding pants, take a look at Tourmaster. Their off the shelf prices are about half what you will pay for custom made Motoports. I'm hoping they may soon offer jackets in shorter sleeve lengths or at least some that are easier to alter then what is offered now. When I bought my first textile gear back in the fall of 2000, I bought new Tourmaster jacket and pants. I subsequently took them to a shop to have altered to fit. Cost; $100 per piece; that had them costing just as much as custom made stuff. I know better now.   Wink

If enough folks needing shorter pants and shorter sleeves on jackets make enough noise, maybe Tourmaster and other companies will eventually listen. These new offerings on pants are a step in the right direction.   Clap
