I purchased Rick Mayers saddle at the start of the season for the SV 650.  This seat is awesome!!!  I was unable to go more than an hour with my butt killing me on the OEM seat and now I can go all day without a prob.  On a recent trip to Nova Scotia I put a lot of hours in the saddle and never felt any pain.

You send him your seat and a picture of you sitting on the bike.  Then he custom sculpts the seat to you ass!  Well worth the 300+ bucks.

I have a Rick Mayer on the FJR and I love it.

With a lot of bikes -- like the FJR -- you don't even have to send him your seat because he keeps a few pans in stock.  You send a deposit check for the seat pan and then send your old seat in when the new one arrives.  No down time was nice.

I have one as well. It is definitley an improvement over my stock seat and Suzuki's gel seat that I had on the Kat before I bought his.

He's less than 3 hours away from me up north, so I did the ride in appointment. There ended up being about 6 riders there. He took us on a walking tour of his place, had pizza for lunch, lounged in the waiting room a bit. Most of the was spent watching him and his small crew working on the various seats before they got to mine.

I have one on my SV1000s and it is a hell of a lot better than the stock seat, but it falls way short of the Russell Day long I had on my Connie.. I wish I had spent the extra $$ and got the day long, butt ugly as it is, the saddle is the best my butt has ever been on.

There is always the option of making an appointment and riding to Rick to have the seat done in person Bigsmile
Simply the best saddle/seat I have ever had on any bike I have ever owned.
I was considering a Corbin for the FJR, sure glad I went to Rick.

I have one on my Sprint.  It is a good seat but I was not completely thrilled with the process.  I think the next custom seat I will get will be from Bill Meyer instead, and I'll see how that goes.

Had a Bill Mayer on my Connie.  Having put much mileage on both, I don't think there's much difference between the Mayer saddles.  That really shouldn't be too surprising.  Bill was the dad.  "Bill Mayer" saddles are now made by Rocky, who is Rick's brother.  Bill taught them both the same things.

I've had great luck with the Rick Mayer seat on my Z750S.  Here's my write-up of getting the seat made (I rode in during the 2006 WCRM).

In fact, I'm going back to Rick Mayer this weekend to have a seat made for my F650GS.  Inlove

Actually Bill sold his business and is now the Russell Daylong saddle company, the boys opened up their own business with their own design.  I still stick with the Russell as the best long distance seat I have sat on.

Almost right.  Bill Mayer sold his first design, using springs, to Russell.  Then he started a second a company building saddles with a similar shape but using foam for the wing support instead of springs.  Rocky took over the second company when Bill passed away.

It was just a very long drawn out process, and I had to remind them several times of who/what I wanted.  The seat is good, but I just felt like his professionalism was lacking.  Also, the downtime without my seatpan was really unreasonable.  He didn't need to have my pan for a month when it only takes him a day to do one, but he insists on having it that long.  I started the process 3 or 4 months before I had a trip planned, and instead of working with me for a quick turn around, he pressed it to the last minute.

I did a ride in to his shop and he completed mine plus a BMW seat before noon
