It is now clear how the recent winds have been damaging the coast. Have a look at the number of huge trees downed.

Another big storm today.

That sucks. I used to live in Vancouver and one summer I rode my bicycle around the park every day as an early morning exercise so the place is like an old friend.

There is only room in my heart for one local news person and that person is Anna Velasquez, the only reason I watch chanel 7.

Back to the park,  Razz  I have fond memories of walking there with my sons, while on a Wisconsin to California motorcycle trip. I've got some great pictures of us, dwarfed by those trees. Glad I'm not there to see the destruction.

I too once lived in Vancouver (spent highschool and university years, and more, there) and I also rode around the parkway a lot, as it was my commute (which I did on my bicycle).  In fact, it was in Stanley Park I was once awarded a speeding ticket on my bicycle...(at the time, I was doing recreational roadracing, so I did tend to ride pretty fast...).

Too bad about the park...

Yes that really stinks - it's a natural event I suppose, and the park will recover but it's still a shame. We had a similar event here in Halifax during Hurricane Juan in 2004 but since our trees are smaller it was much more devastating with over 75,000 trees down.

It must be quite a site to see your huge old monsters lying down.
