Completed my first LD ride on Monday 24 September.

Like cablebandit posted, I chose an out and back for my first attempt.  Asheville, NC to West Memphis, AR and back.
Nothing extraordinary to report--no close calls.  My goof-up was not drinking enough water--must fix that on my next one.

And Nashville, TN using I-40 is a bit of a pain with all the merging with the confluence of several interstates.

All in all a great time and looking forward to more.

Congrats!  I actually wore a camelback filled with gatorade and it worked out great.  It stayed cold all day as well.

Congrats to both of you. I second the camel back. I put the bladder in my tank bag which has a hole for the hose and 2 clips. Made drinking on the go very easy and was a big plus.

I have the 3L camelback and can't image riding without it. I've only out in water as I've heard it can be hard to clean the bladder. And it does cause some conversation and looks at the fountain as I fill it with bottled water and cram in as much ice as I can. Best $40 I've spent in a long time.
