I'd like to get some info from the versys owners manual if there is some one on the forum that could look it up for me.
Thanks

Friend of mine just bought one, 700 miles on it now,,,,,

I've ridden it only one time, I'm eager to get back on it, and try it again, now that the 4,000 rpm restriction is gone.

Do you think you could ask your friend to tell you what the owner's manual suggests for valve inspection interval?  thanks

I just traded my 08 KLR for the 08 Versys, and I will say that I am very impressed with the V. I had nothing against the KLR   but I have kind of lusted after the V since I first saw it.

I ride a lot of dirt and gravel roads, local commuting, some mountain twisties, not too much on the interstate, only what I have to do to get to the back roads.

This Versys is  much better on the gravel and two track roads than I hoped for. I won't bore you with a lot of details, but as much as I liked my KLR, I am very happy with the Versys. It handles great, is very quick, makes great torque down low, and feels like a rocket compared to the KLR.

The tire selection for off road types isn't too good just yet, but should get better. The windshield sucks, but I have changed the shield on every bike I have ever owned so nothing new there.

All in all, I think this Versys is a super handling little bike , puts out almost 60 hp at the wheel , almost 42 lb's torque . I am happy I made the trade, although I worried if I was making a mistake.

To answer your question my manual says, if I am reading it right, that valve inspection is at 15,000 miles, or 24,000km's

cool, thanks.  I read somewhere that someone was reporting the valve inspection for the versys to be at 24k miles which is what the service manual for the 650R says (same engine) as well as I think the european owners manual.   But the owners manual for my 650R says 15k miles as well.  I was just trying to get some references so that I could present this to kawi and ask WTF?   Guess I'll be checking the valves at 15k miles.
