Pretty cool, eh?  I kinda want one.  Although I'll admit to not needing another bike.

Very sweet, thank you.  I like the underbody exhaust versus the 690SM twin smokestacks.   Thumbsup

I bet that thing rails.

What's up w/ the single sided rotor on the front?  I guess w/ that little of weight, it'll work O.K.

 Drool

From pics alone I think it looks better than the 990. I'd bet that is one sweet bike to ride.

Yeah - a twin disc setup would probably be overkill.  The brake it has is a 4-piston Brembo, so I'm sure it stops quite authoritatively.

The spec that raised a flag with me - only 3.56 gallon tank.

Still...  love to know the MSRP on this bad boy.   Inlove

That seems pretty good, it isn't meant to be a touring machine. Now a 2 gallon tank would bother me.

I think I like the looks of the Duke II slightly better, if only because it looks more original e.g., not the little brother of the Super

Very interesting. I'd like to see an overhead shot though. Looks like that seat would give you a wedgie!

I wonder if B & B Yamaha will get one of these. They have a black Super Duke. I went in there last week all giddy but was very disappointed.  The dealership just gave me a bad vibe. Nobody asked me if I needed help (hell they just watched me walk around and visually inspect the Duke). Also, why do ONLY the used bikes have prices on them? None of the new bikes had prices. Also, every single bike had a "DO NOT SIT" sign on them.  Thumbsdown

I felt like it was a wasted trip and I NEVER think that when there are two wheels in the store.

I have only been in their new shop twice so far, and like you I did not experience a big sense of welcome.  However, once I started chatting up the used sales guy, he was not a bad egg.  They are a large multi-brand dealer, and you should not expect them to approach you like, for instance, at the cozy little Triumph shop.  It doesn't mean they are bad overall, just that they do things differently because they are larger.  I know a R6 rider that has nothing but good things to say about B&B.  But for me, I'd rather go to the Triumph shop, even if it's an extra 30 minutes up the road.

The more I read about the new Duke, the more I like it.  I'll bet it would be a hoot at a track day.  Not the fastest bike, just a whole lot of fun.

News article in MD today - http://www.motorcycledaily.com/08october07_2008ktm_690duke&smc.htm

Still haven't seen a price for these Dukes - I'm guessing it may be as much as $9k.  Shrug
