Not here in Castlegar ... yet ...  but every mountain pass out of town is slushy with the white stuff this morning. This will only be my third winter here, but locals say this is extremely early for snow in the mountains. You can see the tops all white from most anywhere in town.

On the Drive BC website the road cams show snow on 97 from Williams Lake south to even Allison Pass through Manning Park. I was hoping for one more ride to the coast but this looks like an end to riding in the mountains. Last year I rode right into November. Sigh ... not ready to pack it in this year .... (bubba kicks a rock and skulks away) ...

Kootenay Pass between Salmo and Creston this morning .... ugh !!

SOrry to hear about your weather, Bubba. I won't tell you about our 80 degrees & sunshine...

Global warming was supposed to lengthen riding season. I'm suing a scientist or two.

Don't give up yet, Jim!!!  The snow won't last long (this time around) and you should have one more warm week before you get socked in.  Thumbsup

Yeah I am hopeful ... but it is dang cool this morning. 3C at my house. Had to even wear a jacket. I guess we may pay for our amazing summer heat by an early winter. Hope you are right Colleen as I want to get out this weekend for a ride.

It snowed in Calgary last night too.  It didn't stick to the ground but it is definitely in the air.  The mountains here are white as well.  I have been thinking of a quick rip up to Lake Louise via the Bow Valley parkway all week but the weatherman doesn't seem to want me to go.   Sad   I have ridden across the Salmo pass in weather that looked just like the picture you posted.  It wasn't fun.   Thumbsdown

We haven't gotten any snow down here in the valley yet but the surrounding mountains are well covered - when you can even see the bloody things.  It's been low clouds, rain and cold for the last couple of weeks steady. Nights within a couple of degrees of freezing (above and below) and daytime highs 5 to 10 degrees.  Sad  Last Thursday was the only nice day we've had for a while (17 degrees and sunny in the afternoon) and Bonny and I went for a nice run after work.  Since then I've had the bike covered under the deck and it's looking like the end of the season might be near in this neck of the woods...

Looks like Crowsnest has a little snow too...

You only live once  Wink plus you gotta do your part to support the Canadian economy

Driving a 8 year old truck has it's benifits.   you spend money on better things like bikes and sleds and still find a way to help the kids out in university, thanks to Lizzabets financial  planning skills

Here's what the mountains around Fernie looked like during the half-hour or so that the clouds cleared out this afternoon...

And the weather channel is calling for 10-15cm of snow here between now and tomorrow evening!!   Crazy

well bubba............i thought you all heard it first here, i told him to buy the BMW   Headscratch........i am not sure how he got the BMW 1200 GS confused with the Skidoo
.......perhaps he got GS confused with Giant Slalom, Skiing, Sledding, Snowmobiling, Skidoo................OMG- I have figured out his confusion!

and as for the financial planning skills, I have been polishing my skills in the Casinos lately......I may have a future in professional gambling EEK! EEK!

Hopefully we will still see you for a ride later this month, the mountain weather will turn nice for a last hurrah soon!

Crappy!  EEK!

And, now the rest of us can't complain as you've done it all.  Here I was, going to post about how it hailed and snowed here last night.  The street was wet when we called it a night.  This morning I had to go out and carefully check that the street was actually dry and not frozen.  Turns out the ground temperature was still warm enough to keep the frost off.  So I rode today!  Bigsmile

We'll see about tomorrow.  One day at a time for us Canucks.  This weekend may be it for us.  Sad

So... was that fall colors ride on skiis, or sleds?
