My suggestions:

3hr ride - take 372 across the river, up 74 to Red Lion and over through Hanover.  This is a pretty straight shot, but it's better than taking Route 30.

4hr ride - Follow alongside the turnpike route taking numerous great twisty backroads, including Maple Grove Road, Mt Airy Road, Mt Gretna Road, then skirting below Hershey, crossing at Harrisburg, and coming down 194 by Lake Meade and on to Gettsyburg.  Map link

6hr mountain ride.  Head up over the mountain to Pine Grove, then to Tower City and back over the mountain on Gold Mine Road.  Then back over the mountain again by Peter's Mountain.  Head over the River at 22, then on to Port Royal, and do another mountain pass on 74 to Carlisle, then take 34 down to Gettysburg.   Bigok

Work your way over to PA 74 and head for the intersection of 74 & 851 near Delta.  Have b'fast at the Delta Diner (always other bikes there).  Take twisty 851 west thru Fawn Grove, Stewartstown, Shrewsbury (can jump on/off I-83 there if needed), and New Freedom.  Then take 216 west by Codorus S.P. and thru Hanover.  Then 116 west into G'burg.  At the roundabout in town, take Bus. 15 south to the visitor's center at the battlefield.

Yup, you both pretty much summed up my recommendation(s). Good work. Carry on!

45 min ride.  Get on PA Turnpike, pin throttle to stop.  Release throttle 45 mins later, wipe grin off face and dodge incoming LEO gun fire.

Hahaha. That's practically what we did on the way back!
