Do you consider yourself a SQUID?

The better I get at riding, the less I'm able to just grunt and bare lame Cage drivers. "The speed limits 65 mph! Why are we going 55?!" The other day, I had an epiphany, "I'm slowly turning into a Squid." I pass on yellow lines, I regularly go over the speed limit, I'm slowly descending into Squidom.  

So do you consider yourself a SQUID?

No.  Yes I speed, yes I disobey the occasional traffic law, but (in my twisted little worldview) I do it in a safe manner and attempt to minimize my risks as much as possible.  This includes protective gear and choosing the time and place for my hooliganism as carefully as possible.

In my view, a squid isn't somebody who speeds or stunts or rides hard, it's someone who does those things in inappropriate places or at the wrong time.  A wheelie on a deserted desert road is one thing; the same stunt through heavy freeway traffic is another.

Alternately, the time-honored "anyone faster than me is a squid" explanation works pretty well too.

Well, I guess this hasn't been the most popular poll. There seems to be so much serious talk here I thought it'd be fun to have a survey which lightens the mood a little. A little humility? A little self deprecation?  

I agree with all of your comments Req. I'd rather not turn this into a thread though about when it's safe to be squidly, if one wears protective gear, the definition of a squid, etc.... I was just laughing at myself given certain situations on my bike and thought others would find some humor with that and their experiences, and want to contribute.

I would likely not be considered a squid by anyone's measuring tape. Mostly because I'm to scared to get too wild on a bike.

I wear ATGATT.
I definitely go above and beyond the posted speed limits much of the time.
I lane split, but only under ~30 - 35 MPH - NEVER over 45 MPH.
I do not do stoppies or wheelies, no desire to ever do either one.
I have large chicken strips

It was kind of cool having my teenage son point out that my chicken strips were smaller than his  friend's GSX.   On the other hand, explaining that to the wife was't.

Can I say that I honestly ride in a manner above all possible criticism?  No I can not.  

Would I proudly describe myself as a SQUID?  No I can't say that I would.
