I see some pretty interesting maps in the commute map thread, and I was wondering the how and where of how you guys post maps with routes on them here on the forum.

I use the Directions from Google then copy the page to the clipboard (ctrl-c), paste it into Paintshop to crop it to the size I want.  Save the image to the desktop and then attach the file to the message.

Microsoft Streets and Trips.  Clipboard copy and crop to size.

+1 on Streets and Trips. Alt-PrintScreen to copy to the clipboard, paste into a photo editing application (Adobe Photoshop Elements for me), crop and save, then upload to PhotoBucket.

check out grouprider.com

its integrated with google maps. and has groups within, so you can make ...say... an "event" and notify people of when and where a route will happen.  There are also "public routes" that you can just share, and look up others' favorite routes.  Give it a shot, its got real potential.

1) Download trackpoints from the GPS
2) Upload into a mapping app (Street Atlas or Google Earth)
3) Print-Screen & paste into an image editor, crop, save (gif's seem to work better than jpg's - for clarity of text).

This thing is a combo with the Google Earth 'map' in the corner:

+1, pretty sweet indeed... we're using it to plan a variety of rides  from Sun. morning breakfast runs, to 4 day rally's, to a VERY extended ride...

I used Google Maps for mine.  They recently added the multiple destinations feature that made it so I could plot 2 different routes to the same place.  After I get the zoom right I used Grab (I'm on a Mac) to take a screen shot, then crop and put it up in my message.
