I see the Ont Liberals are seeking votes by offering a new stat in February - Family Day. Now I know this is not of much interest to motorcyclists given the time of year, but a long weekend that time of year would help with the February blahs.

They gonna get your vote?? hmmm  Headscratch Embarassment

I voted for the party that offers free beer, free BBQ ribs and chicken wings, free poutine, free ZX-14's, and free loose women. That way the holidays will last 364 days a year. I'll work on Feb. 29th. and I'll think about the other one.

Any day off is a good day. Mcguinty's record on keeping his election promises isn't too good, though. Rolleyes

(the free beer/BBQ party wasn't running a candidate in our riding -- no Marijuana Party either)

No rhinos either ??   Elections are getting boring.

I would vote for the holiday. But then I am shallow, selfish and think it doesn't matter who wins.

I think it makes a hell of a difference. That's why I bother to vote. Otherwise this might as well be Afghanistan.

If they wanted votes which they didn't, they would have pulled the 50 over law.  You can sneeze on an FJR or a Blackbird or just about any sport touring bike and be over.  Well, you guys in Ontario will have another day off for snowmobiling... Bigsmile  while we take unofficial riding days on the left coast.

Ouch ... that hurt. Thank you for the reminder. I do vote. Just that it "bothers" me to vote.

Afghanistan ... hmmm .... wrong. Damn stoopid analogy AGW ... fukin stoopid in my opin.   Try again. You campaigning or what ???   Twofinger

My comment was directed at the back and forth nature of voting between liberal and conservative and how little there is gained and/or lost either way ... a very little of a difference over time in terms of outcomes. Give your head a shake ... er ... mate ?!!!  Sad

The Alberta PC's gave this to us 20 some years ago I think. Of course your American employer will laugh off provincial holidays anyway.

Of course, you would have a Liberal Government & the last time Ontario elected a federal one, they robbed us blind.

I guess I just hate Liberals  Bigok I feel their unofficial policies are.. "oh just give us more of your paycheck, and trust us, everyone will be happy but you."

I will vote communist before Liberal in any future elections.  Bigsmile

No harm intended. The ref to Afghanistan is related more to the point that in any society where the losers step aside without resorting to violence there can exist a peaceful agreement to disagree. But for that society to prosper it requires the populace to inform itself and then to vote, to make public the most popular interpretation of the preferred course of action. In that country, the population seems to resort to violence and has not much interest in accepting electoral loss. And I assume that there isn't much willingness to even consider whether or not the opposing group or groups have an opinion worth considering and debating. In that case, then there is not much point in bothering with an electoral process (ie. voting).
As far as your point re. the Libs and Cons, I agree. I knew that was what you meant but this is more fun don't you think?  Twofinger

Its amazing what politicians will do to get elected.

Whats more amazing are the dumb voters that go for stuff like this which is meant to sidetrack the general public from the real issues. I wonder how many would vote for a politician that would abolish taxes without thinking how services would get paid for.

People get the leadership they deserve.

The problem be Liberal,Tori or NDP is that their "services" cost about 10 times more that they should.

I once knew a lady who's identity I will keep quiet, who was elected as a Liberal MP and rushed off to Ottawa to save the world. Well after a year, I saw her once again & she explained how things really work.

You as an MP, can come up with an idea which will save the taxpayers a billion dollars. In order to get you taxpayer saving bill passed, you have to support your fellow MP's bills. So in essance you may have to vote on 120 billion dollars worth of spending, to get your one billion dollar taxpayer saving bill passed.

Well, my friend is retired now, and she still speaks in disregard of the realities of capital hill.
