Hope someone can help. Took my 02 1200 Trophy in last week for 12k service.Get it home,2 days later it stopped about 1/2 mile after i left work.It coughed like it was cold, then started running on 3, 2 1 cylinder and quit.Got it home on a trailer, next morning it started.
Ran like it was flooding.I orderd and installed a new ignition sensor. Fired up and ran good.Today, aweek later, it is sitting in the parking lot at work. I started it up, let it warm up (just a little choke for 15 seconds) while i put on my helmet and gloves. Started to leave, it starts running rough. I gassed it up to about 6k on the tach, it cleared for about 2 seconds, then the 3,2,1 cylinder stop sequence again. I am PO"d as the stealer charged $603 for the service. It has never left me on the road before this. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

These are NOTORIOUS for having the ignition coils fail.  The replacement Triumph ignition coil is okay - a company named Nology makes one that's generally known as better.

+1 on the coils. I can't give a fully-authoritative response yet, because I'm waiting for my new coils to arrive. However, I exeperienced a similar set of symptoms. I thought it was carb-based, but my shop put the bike on the sniffer and said it ran fine. I got it home, and it didn't.

On thier recommendation, I re-gapped the plugs to .020, to make it easier for the spark to jump the gap. It ran fantastic for a few days. However, I think the coils are getting worse, because I'm getting the problem back.

Try the plug gap. If it works, look for coils. I've got the PN here somewhere.
