I have been planning this for a few days. It was to be a nice dual sport ride my first of any kind. I waited and waited then as time got close we had a storm come in on Saturday. Mountain roads would be snow covered but how bad was the question.
I decided I would go anyway. My original plan was to head out in the morning, Head towards the town of Monroe, and go over the 20+ miles of dirt roads on Monroe Mountain to Koosharem down Hwy 62 to Otter Creek Reservoir head into Antimony via Hwy 22, where I had heard there is this little Cafe/general store that makes great burgers and home made pies Have lunch and head off towards Marysvale Via 62/89. Then finish my trip leaving Marysvale, going over 10 miles of dirt road back towards Monroe and then home.
Well after seeing the storm roll in and knowing there would be snow on Monroe Mountain which has a peak of about 11,000+ feet I figured I would do my route Backwards transversing Monroe in the afternoon.
I left this morning at about 10:45 it was a balming 34 degrees in the valley, I knew it would be cold up on Monroe, so doing the route in Reverse would be the way to go.
I headed off with a great adventure in mind. It was cold but manageable with gear.
I stopped here about 10 miles out of Monroe on my way to Marysvale.
I have spent some time in these hills with my ATV doing some geocaching, there is some old mines and mining equipment and miles of trails.
In this picture you can see the town of Monroe in the far!
After leaving the stop came upon some Cows near the road. It's open Range out here so be careful if you ever find yourself riding here.
A nice look Back at the same location
More traveling towards Marysvale I came upon this sign and this old bridge. The sign tells how you can ride your ATVs in town and the rules.
This Bridge is pretty cool
I topped off in Marysvale. I have only had this bike a short time and don't yet know the mileage it gets etc. So every chance I got I filled up. I took just under a gallon since my last fill up. I then head towards Antimony and the Burger I was craving...
I turned off Hwy 89 onto Hwy 62 Just outside Junction. This is one of my favorite stretches of road...You can see why!!!
The Fall colors were great...
More of Pics at the same stop.

I continued down 62 to the junction at Otter Creek Reservoir where Hwy 22 & 62 come together. Then on into Antimony.
Here is My Burger spot I had Lunch with great service and gassed back up
Nice place with good people running it..
The inside of the dining room...
Its Hunting season so the place had Hunters coming in and out while I was there.
Well after a great Burger and some fantastic service I decided to move on. I would recommend this place if you ever get a chance. The pies are to die for and they make homemade Cinnamon Rolls that are huge.
I head back to Hwy 62 and towards Koosharem, I made it about 5 miles down the road and saw this dirt road so Off I went I went up about 3-4 miles but it started turning into a trail and getting tight so I decided to turn around and do it another day.
Here's a view from the trail while I was heading down.
This is where I was coming from after I turned around
This is something you pass on the way out or in
Back to the Hwy and to Monroe Mountain. I pulled into Koosharem to a gas station and topped off. The wind had started picking up and it was getting cold again. It had been nice and warm till then
Little town of Koosharem, Elevation 7100 ft wind blowing about 30 mph and the temp is 40 degrees.....Barrier
here the owner and the FedEx guy are talking about deer and the owner is showing the FedEx guy a mount thru the window.
I took a little break and headed up the Mountain, not knowing what was ahead of me....I would soon find out...
Yep here it is...

higher I go...
This would be the last picture I would take. I kept climbing found more slush and snow and ICE!!!!!
Snow covered ice and dualsports don't get along when trying to go up hill. I had a little spill and decided I didn't need to be doing this so I turned around and headed back to Koosharem and then Hwy'd it back home about 40 miles.

Not to much damage, Bent handle bars and shifter. Fixed the shifter on the mountain so I could shift and will get a new set of bars, I have some at my shop we'll see if they will work.
Over all I had a great time looking forward to doing it some more but I think I'll stay off the mountain till spring time
