I took 39 from Ogden to Kemmerer and into the interior of WY on my ride from Sacramento this summer. Its a pretty ride with curves.

Rode up to SE Idaho and back with my buddy Cyrus. It was great. It's snowed/stormed the last 5 saturdays in a row, so the Zed was really chomping at the bit (as was I). I forget how much i love autumn... it reminds me of thanksgiving in southern utah when I was a kid. sunny, warmish, family around, playing football or frisbee or whatever... trees all golden. I dig it. It also reminds me of getting my first streetbike, my XL1200; I got it in October and rode the crap out of it all winter. I was sooo thankful to have heated gear yesterday... it was 35 degrees when I left and with a T-shirt and my Gerbings liner and gloves I was fine.
There was some snow in the shaded corners on the north face on the East canyon road, but other than that it was dry and clear. Great road, particularly heading north (uphill) through that twisty section. Trouble is most of the time it's infested with bicyclists in the warm months.
39 (monte cristo) is an amazing ride in itself, but if you can get there when there are still leaves on the aspens it's incredible. Far as you can see in any direction, aspens. It was pretty freaky and cool seeing black and white naked aspens this time, though.

Yep, Monte Cristo is one of my favorite roads here! That is a fun ride you did other than the slab part back on I-15. It's almost worth doing as an out and back instead. Up to Bear lake, then come back.
We had a good ride on Wolf Creek Sunday. Sunny, dry roads,. cold as hell, but good.

Sweet. The slab part was early a.m. to get to Logan quick. Not bad... the road from I-15 to Logan is nice. Certainly would have preferred monte cristo there and back, which I usually do when riding northeast, but didn't have time.
Wolf creek is always loverly, too.

Yeah, we enjoyed Wolf Creek. Took it at a moderate pace, being cautious since we knew there was snow/ice on East Canyon. Didn't want to round a corner doing our usual pace and come upon any snow, ice, or similar. So, there were lots of looking through the curve to make sure it was clear, then back at the road looking for any shade, water, snow, etc. Luckily the hunters left us alone and didn't try to shoot us! lol

I belong to a small group of guys who I ride with down here, when we start planning our rides for next year I'll keep you all informed so you can join us. Now granted these guys all ride cruisers but a good bunch that have a good time we all like doing 2-3 day trips along with day trips.

Yeah, you can't do any good riding in just one day.
I kind of know what you guys are saying. Sometimes I have a hard time with it too, but I do love to ride so I do go and try and find new places, 300-400 miles days are cool with me even more if need be. or short trips like my last one monday.
I do love to get away for 2-4 days. That is an adventure especially to go hit different states. I have to get up north next year to Idaho, Wyoming etc. I'm also thinking AZ and New mexico.
Hey 1K you up for being on the contact list also?

My wife works for the BLM dealing with Fires. She's part of the legal side that, after a fire has been put out and the area rehab'd, they go after those responsible for starting the fire and try to recoup some of the costs. So she's in Richfield doing something legal-like. LOL Should be heading home today.

1K,
Looks like a great route. I actually did part of it way back in '81 or '82 while stationed at Hill AFB. I noticed your start/end point was Alpine. My Sister owns Canyon Copy. Stop in and say hi from her favorite brother!
How's the Alpine weather? I am half tempted to do a quick ride up to see her the day after Thanksgiving.
Cheers,

The weather here is just a bit cooler than provo... we're right up against the mountains and a bit higher in elevation. We often get a bit of snow when the bigger towns get rain. Other than that it's about the same.
