Today is in the mid 50's with an overcast and I decided to follow my own advice and "Make" today a riding day instead of waiting for a day to ride. As I headed out I had this strange feeling but I decided to shake it off and keep rolling.

As I rode, the land started to transform right before my eyes, tree leaves turning gold, browns, and yellow.

Now I know what forces are at work, and I have to track them down before it was to late. Droppings left behind made them easy to track but they were moving at incredible speeds. For a moment I lost the trail, seems like someone doublebacked and cleaned up the droppings, but they left a clue and I managed to pick up the trail leading to a bridge.

The trail continued across the walk way and I had to keep my eyes open because they could jump from nowhere and stomp me into the ground. While I'm at it let me use my mirrors to watch my back since I'm out here alone.

Oh man, what is that sound...it's loud and coming right at me..is it the river
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w219/ninjadad66/RideReport1028/RR1028016.jpg

No, not the river, a train and the villians are escaping. To late to flag it down I have to follow on my motorcycle.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w219/ninjadad66/RideReport1028/RR1028019.jpg

I followed the train to the valley of trees and quickly found myself surronded EEK!
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w219/ninjadad66/RideReport1028/RR1028006.jpg

:crazy:Oh man, the trees are closing in on me.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w219/ninjadad66/RideReport1028/RR1028007.jpg

It's almost to late what do I do Headscratch
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w219/ninjadad66/RideReport1028/RR1028008.jpg

No worries, I'll hide behind these bushes and hope the evil trees don't see me.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w219/ninjadad66/RideReport1028/RR1028012.jpg

Whew!! That was close, with the trees marching on, I ran down the road closing in on the villians that captured summer and released fall Crazy I rounded the bend, to see them marching towards Church Castle, onward I ride Burnout.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w219/ninjadad66/RideReport1028/RR1028024.jpg

I made it to church castle tired and hungry, but I moved on. I reached the hill top, and by the smell I knew I was close

EEK! :eek:Oh my God..........What is this..
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w219/ninjadad66/RideReport1028/RR1028001.jpg

Somehow I've been transported to the Planet of the Apes and they have summer trapped in a shatter proof vase....Can this be Germany
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w219/ninjadad66/RideReport1028/RR1028003.jpg

    couch  I'm scared, what will happen next...will summer be released..

Good one!  BTW, have you ever seen the Narrenverein groups with all of the masks and so on?  Makes the gorillas look tame by comparison.

The Narrenverein (Fools Club) is, I think, mostly a southern German thing (Ralf -what do you know about them?) and I don't quite get all of it, even after some explanation.  But it goes back to at least the Dark Ages and involves people dressed as witches (big theme), wood spirits (both good and bad), and some other things I don't quite get.  If you plug "narrenverein" into google.de, you'll find a lot of individual clubs and pictures of the masks and costumes.  The parades can get pretty chaotic as people in costume may (or may not) engage in some mischief with the crowd.  The one parade we saw, someone came out of a group and (this was really rather spooky in some ways) started very slowly but deliberately creeping towards my wife and, long story short, stole her shoe laces!  There were some people watching the parade from a house with a garden unlike the one with gorillas.  A few characters got together and climbed up the wall, into the garden, and started peering back in the windows at the spectators.  It was all done completely silently and they moved slowly but just kept on coming.  Creepy!

One of the other bits of stuff that happens is a group dressed as witches will stop in the street and stuff their brooms (made of small sticks bound to one big stick) together roughly like a pyramid.  Someone climbs up on the brooms and sits on top of them!  You have to see it to get it but it's pretty amazing.
