Well im new to the forum and I hope I can maybe get some help Smile
My wife has a 1983 hondaVT750, real good shape just one prob...It did not start this season.
I tracked it down to be "no spark". Put a new battery in and starting checking the basics. according to our repair book the pickup ohm'ed out correctly, all the wires I could get to seem good, when I got to checking the igniters the values were slightly off. I asked around and got "oh yeah, igniters, replace em". So I got a set off ebay put them in, rechecked values, looked better than before... But alas, still nothing. Now Im to the point of checking more, but un-educated on what exactly to do. Help?

Welcome to ST-N Bigok

Assuming the bike ran last time you parked it and now with a new battery you have no spark. My bet would be corrosion on some electrical connector. Which connector? Maybe the kill switch internal contacts?
When you say the pickup ohm'ed ok, that is only half the test. The pickup is an AC generator. Connect a volt meter to the pick up terminals, set the meter to AC 10 volts max. Then crank the bike, you should have better than .25 peak AC volts. If you get more than .25 peak AC volts the Pickup is not the problem. (It takes .25v ac to trigger the trasnsiser in the ignition module)
To test the coil, remove the spark plugs (or better yet use new plugs)  put them back in the spark plug cables and rest them on the engine (so the threaded part of the plugs are grounded to the engine.) Remove the primary wires to the ignition coil (the small wires) use your volt meter with the ignition on to determine which wire is battery positive +, reconnect that wire to the ignition coil. Use a jumper wire to connect to the other terminal of the ignition coil. With the ignition on scratch the jumper wire against the engine, you should see the spark plug fire (spark.)
Lastly now that you know the polarity of the coil primary windings (the small wires to the coil, battery +& -) put a test light from the coil B- to the battery positive (B+) and crank the engine (do not use the voltmeter to do this). Does the test light blink (should be rather fast -depending on how fast the engine is turning over) if the light is blinking you have no problem with the ignition system. look somewhere else for the no start problem.

Please post the outcome of above tests sequences.

Wow, thats the best flow chart I've gotten from anyone. Well yeah, sorry it took a bit but check out the results. Yes, the bike ran last time we parked (was like 6 mo. ago). Checked the kill switch, that was slightly corroded, I took it apart cleaned it up and the switch works every time now, but bike still has no spark.pulsegenerator; I checked resistance. Specified range was 450-550 ohms..I got 460 +/- 2ohms for each. The check you rec'd for checking ACv ... I got 28ACv- 30ACv for each P.Gen.
Cool way of checking the coils.. They both checked good, with a strong blue spark across each electrode. Im now to the point of the last check with the test light, just got to remember to bring it home from work. Im going to go ahead and clean the plugs up real good and triple check everything. Not unless you can give me any pointers on rechecking the igniters (just to make sure). Again, thank you and I will keep ya posted.

The ignitors/ignition modules are nothing more then fancy transistors (OK so they do control saturation time for the coils)
If the pick ups are putting out 28 to 30v ac then they most defiantly are not the problem.
If you did the scratch test and got good spark the coils are good.
The excursive(spelling?) is to test everything else except the ignition module.
Forgot one test,  Put a voltmeter on the battery and make sure you have over 10.1 v when cranking.

You can make a cheap test light with two wires, a 12v light bulb and a few minuets with a soldering iron (OK so I am a cheap bastage)

When you get the results (using a test light to see if you have a ground pulse to the ignition coils) please post the results
