I got detoured this weekend and ended up at the 'local' BMW dealer. He had a new 07 R1200GS (not adventure) with heated grips, abs, computer, cast wheels, and factory side bags. I was quoted rolling out the door including Mi 6% sales tax a price of $17383.

Is this reasonable?

I've never bought a BMW new, so my opinion is based entirely on other people's experiences.

But my understanding is that if you can get one under the sticker price, you're doing well. Many BMW dealers won't budge from sticker. That said, many of the dealers who won't budge from sticker will be amenable to giving significant discounts on accessories, such as saddlebags, tank bags, etc.

Sounds good to me.  Its under sticker out the door.  Very good.

Keep in mind most dealers can't move that much on the sticker as BMW patrols pricing (or so i've heard).  Same goes at the automobile dealerships.

Pheh.

These bikes are not holding their value.  Look for a 1-2 year old one with low mileage.  There are lots of them out there.  You'll save yourself five or six grand.

Just my $.02

Is this reasonable?

Depends on how bad you want it. Reasonable is a very relative term. Wink

True, but this is Michigan, + Detroit area (seen the US auto industry lately?  Crazy) so I'm thinking I should be able to get a screaming deal. With the regular 4 dealers, I figure I should be able to get a bike out the door, tax, prep, and junk included for what they want for MSRP. This lists for 15k, + options = $16,500 ish, so is 17.3k a little high, for a 2007 in Nov, in Mi? I'm not sure, so that's why I'm here polling the experts.

I think I would like it a lot, but it would mean abandoning my 5 bike plan, and testing the 1 bike that does it all myth.

(also, when I mentioned FD issues, they went  Headscratch what issues? we haven't seen them  Crazy )

Three weeks ago for almost the exact same $$ I was given ADV bags for the price of the Varios, a set of Pia X1100 (i think)  lights with a bar, crash bar, and the factory deal Zumo.  They may have felt bad as the R1100S I traded had been something of a dog or it may just be in the Northeast it's freebie time.  You may want to ask for some free farking :pokestick:g.

The dealer didn't sweeten the deal with the Zumo, that was a BMW promotion.

I think that's what I said, BUT, install/mount was not included (tiny print). My point being more stuff may be had for the money if the dealer is in the mood.

BMWs are expensive.  Get a used one. Smile

Note: For new, that price looks pretty decent.

Yeah, and that promotion expired on Halloween, according to the BMW website.

Not yet. I'm still trying to figure out if 17 large is a good price to me. I guess to the general public it is.  Crazy
