From what I read in an English 'cycle mag or 2 - part of reason the Shiver has unusual 2 piece froame is so different models asre easilly produced. Who knows.
most recent mag test I read, as mentioned in previous post, the Shiver had terrible throttle control and if so needs to go back to drawing board. ( electronic, sorta like Yam. FZ series )

Note the blue-and-silver Mana in the back with rigid side cases installed.

That sure is purdy.
I'd consider giving up the Tuono for something like that.

I rang up the 'Priller Dealer on Monday, 1/22/08........and put a deposit on a black one.
I've been waiting for a SuMo just like this for some time now - only better that it turned out to be a 'Priller. This layout really does it for me. A compact, modern, water-cooled, powerful (for a 'tard) motor and a proven chassis design matched up with good brakes and suspenders. I just hope all the "leightweight" hype from Aprilia's Dorsoduro press release comes to pass.......maybe 380 lbs. dry?
I also happen to think the Dorsoduro looks good......very focused and purposeful, especially in black. I'm going to remove those "shark-gill" covers and have them anodized/hi-temp painted black to match the bodywork. I'll fit a set of freer-flowing pipes (should be Euro-available by the time I get mine here in the States) just to make it sound better. I'm having big fun with my 'Zook DRZ400SM, so I figure 95 HP will be plenty enough - no need to go looking for more.
Possible headaches: fly-by-wire, relatively new motor/reliability issues, rear shock sprung for the usual midget, seat (has there EVER been a comfortable stock seat?). Oh, well............you know these things going in with a first-year offering.
So - drank the Kool-aid.......hook, line & sinker........took the plunge - I'm in. Let's hope they get production underway pretty quickly. I'm relatively sure we'll see it here in the States, Aprilia doesn't generally do that Japanese "We're not bringing THAT model (whichever really cool one you want) to the USA" bullshit.
Piccy of the black Dorsoduro:

No, I'm working with my usual MSRP-Killer guys at Honda East........bought the '07 Tuono & FZ1 from them, they beat the locals by over $1K - even w/shipping. Besides, I was never a fan of "working" salespeople - it's pain in the neck to me. With HE, they give you a "bottom line" figure, you sign and overnight documents along with a check - and your bike shows up at the Portland Airport nicely crated a few days later. Very simple and clean transaction. Plus, being a HUGE Dealer like they are, they get units early............I had my T7 & the Fizz in the garage long before local dealers ever had those particular models floored.
I utilize MI for all warranty/service/and work I simply do not have time for - they are a very competent shop (unlike our PDX "boutique"), and charge at an extremely reasonable rate. Micha at MI was the guy who straightened out all the "Enjoy Me" Aprilia paperwork with Italy......got me two more years of transferrable warranty.
For parts & farkles it's AF1, of course..............they just keep more items stocked, and have a continuing interaction with the parts persons in Italy - it seems like they can get things no one else can.
One more shot:

I absolutely love those wheels.
So much cooler than the fat three spokes so many companies use.
