Hearing that was enough to make me leap onto my bike and head for the Milan Trade Fair. At the show the Bologna-based motorbike manufacturer is unveiling its new, long-distance 2-wheeler. And as usual with Moto Morini, they’ve gone about it in their own special way. In my opinion, something extraordinary has happened with the Granpasso. I see it like this. At the top of some lonesome mountain road, the Italian sports bike tradition drove into the legend of “on the road” biking. And only one bike roared down from that mountain pass. A bike that no one has ever seen before.
The Granpasso 1200 is not just a new motorbike, it’s the first ever “enduro veloce”. What we’re talking about here is a whole new way of riding! In a nutshell, the joy of biking and a heap of fun for mile after mile after mile.
The bike’s 1,187cc Bialbero Corsacorta engine has been optimised for long journeys, giving it immense power, immediate response and well-balanced consumption. Its levels of performance have never been experienced before on an enduro, and its easy riding style was previously reserved for “pure” road bikes only. The Granpasso is designed to travel, and to travel in comfort, thanks to its large saddle, 25-litre tank, raised riding posture and a complete set of accessories. The Granpasso’s twin spirit shines through its aggressive, highly personal design too. A design that includes a naked trellis framework baring the power of the engine, a wicked front cowl, and a swingarm proudly displaying its Ohlins single side shock absorber.
At EICMA, Moto Morini cruises down a completely new road. But the Granpasso isn’t the only company news. Moto Morini is also unveiling the Corsaro Avio, a bike designed especially for Morini first-timers with 120 horsepower tightly reined in a new blue and silver colour scheme. Then there is the white version of the Corsaro Veloce, with its Ohlins rear suspension, radial clutch and brake pump, and new control unit mapping. The new Corsaro also boasts a radial clutch and brake pump as well as multi-adjustable suspension. And last but not least, the 9 1/2 now hits the road with tubeless tyres and a new colour scheme.
So as Moto Morini is revving up to ride even further, isn’t it time you roared over to Milan to take a look? It’s all happening at Pavilion 18, booth I 54
