I've run across what appears to be a great deal on a '02 Futura. 6500 miles with full riding gear for $4800.00 CDN. So far I've just see pics (they look great), but depending on what I can find out I may drive the 150 miles to look at it. I've not been able to find any info on the price range these bikes fall into nor have I been able to find out much about any inherent problems beyond parts availability. I've always thought they'd be a good 1up ST mount and this one would be in addition to my ST1300. Any insight appreciated. Yawn

$4,800 cdn?  That's a good deal for the right bike.  If it's clean and one owner, heck yeah.

But you just never know until you're standing next to it.

If you do drive the 150 miles to check it out, please be psychologically ready to walk away if it's not the right bike.  There are lots of bikes.

That sounds like a steel if it is the the condition you say it is. I've been watching the prices on these lately and that should be closer to $6000 (u.s.). But as mistersmooth said, dont be afraid to walk away if you drive that far to see it.

Thank's guys. I might have to go see it just to figure out what's wrong with the deal. Wink This price includes a Fieldsheer mesh jacket, JR suit, Nelson Riggs cover, a couple of air filters, service manual, and a pair of helmets (Aria and Shoei) and some gloves. My guess is a relationship change. EEK!

Ok, first let me say this.  The bike is fantastic!  I just bought a new 04', yeap, NEW leftover.  I have in three weeks put over 800 miles on the bike and I have fallen in love with it.  My three previous bikes were VTR1000, and an 02' and 04' FZ1.
The Futura in a word is precise.  This past Sunday I did a group ride that the last 90 miles of were twisties.  By the end of the ride I was dragging my toes(accidental) and the bike just hung there on the curves.  I felt as though I could have leaned harder but didnt push it.  The rear tire now has maybe 8 - 10 mm of chicken strips.  I am by no means a pro, but I do enjoy riding the curves..
After this weekend I am sure that I have fallen for my Italian lover!!!

Oh, btw as far as parts do a google for AF1 or aprilia forum as it is sponsored by this dealer in Texas.  And from all of the stories that I have heard they are great to deal with.

It's likely someone that's spooked by a bike no longer in production or looking to make a quick sale. Good bike, mine does alot of two up trips in the twisties and gives way more confidence than my CBR does when it comes time to turn.

What part of Canada is it located in? I'm on the border. (detroit/windsor) If I'm closer, I'd gladly do a scouting look for you. And no, I wouldnt buy it out from under you.

Being a owner of a Futura, sometimes people just don't like dealing with the network of Aprilia, hence the great deals on used bikes. I would have a look at it and found out if any mods were done i.e. quick disconnect changed to a brass unit and the rectifier wiring has been done. And of course look at the over all condition, if it looks like it has had the love it so well deserves.....Buy it. I can not say how wonderful this bike has been and the attention it gets when we are out on the road. I hope Aprilia will come out with the V-4 in a sport touring bike soon.

Guess I'm lucky that way.  I've got two Aprilia dealerships within 20 miles of me.  And the one I use regularly, Detroit Eurocycles, has been great!  Been going there 4 yrs now.
