I would like to add some battery extension cables for the trickle charger so I don't have to unbolt the seat everytime I want to hook-up the charger.
Seems easy enough....any one got something like this with pic's?

Check out the kits at http://www.powerletproducts.com.

I have the BMW/John Deere/Powerlet (same basic plug design) rear kit on my FJR I use for charging and my electric jacket liner.  On the old BMW R75/5 I have a plain SAE connector cable-to-the-battery (something like Powerlet's universal kit), using the cap's loop to retain the end on the seat's handle when not in use.

My Battery Tender has a SAE main cable with an adapter to a short Powerlet cable (as sold by most BWW dealers), so it fits on both.

My Harley came with a Battery Tender (tm) brand charger ( I guess most Harley riders park their bike all week and all winter because they gave me a whole diatribe on when/how/how-often to use it...  Headscratch ) and the dealer installed the dongle down at the passenger foot peg, nicely installed with weather cap and wire-tied within an inch of its life. It's a good installation point; out of the way, etc. I haven't had any wet-weather issues with it, and I do eye-ball it often to make sure the weather cap stays on, etc. Seems ok to me. Some day I might actually need to use it. I haven't installed one on the CBR; I switch off about a week at a time between the Harley and the CBR, so neither one sits long enough for it to be an issue.

Get one of these...

Its a YUASA Battery Analyzer. The module unplugs when not in use leaving you with an SAE plug for hook-up to a battery charger, heated gear or whatever. Available from most shops for about $11.

I did a little customizing to my Battery Tender Jr. I have a Powerlet installed near a passenger peg (for an electric vest) that's run direct to the battery through a fuse of course. So I made up an SAE to Powerlet connector using SAE stuff from the auto parts store and a Powerlet plug from http://www.powerletproducts.com/ and now I just plug the tender in to the jack when I'm going to be leaving the bike for a long time or it needs an overnight boost. This is super easy, and a lot more secure than taking the seat off and using the clips.

This is the one I bought after reading recommendations. http://www.navstore.com/detail.aspx?ID=1137
It works great and comes with the connector to the battery. Thumbsup I have used it for about a year now. It is being replaced with model 12117 so this model is on sale.

I have also heard that a "trickle charger" is not a good idea. Headscratch

My Battery Tender (and Yausa clone) both came with leads you left hooked to the battery and then zip-tie the other end to a frame rail or whatever. Works great. Very convenient, not to mention I can run my 12V air compressor off it as well as power my bullet camera. Heated gear of some sort is next. I leave the bikes on Battery Tenders all year round because it's so easy to access.
