Going to try hard to make it this year. It is simply too long a winter to go without seeing motorcycles.

Bubba, I am guessing that you have also been to the Vancouver show in your past life , so does the Calgary show offer anything better or more interesting. I have attended the Edmonton show some years ago and enjoyed it but it was smaller with less vendors, thoughts, comments. Thanks

Aren't they all pretty much the same? I mean, they start in the East, hop city to city and end in Van, right?

Moving all the various Mfgr's bikes in the same trucks from one province to another.

Except for the local chapters of race organizations, Wimmin's riding groups, Christian Bikers, local city dealership salespeople, etc, etc which will, understandably, be different across the land.

They are all the same ... but you see .. it is easier to drive east in the winter than to drive west to Vancouver.. the roads are better the further east you go and less up and down. I never knew that living on the coast.

From here to Calgary, in the winter is about 7 hours. From here to Vancouver in the winter, is about 6 hours, but factor in the Hope/Princeton and you might as well add another 2 hours. And from Chilliwack to Abbotsford ... yuck!

This sounds like fun. I can't be sure just yet, but will try to be there. It's about 7 or 8 hours for me too, but from the other direction.

Hmmm.  This is sounding like the makings for an STN meet.  Bigok

I hadn't decided if I was going this year.  I went last year and saw the Ducati ST3 for the first time and ended up buying one this year.  I'd like to go see the new 848, but the budget won't really allow for another bike, so it might not be safe...  Crazy

Ah, yes.  Kings, The Linoleum Palace.  Just make sure to go to the North location, not the South location.  The food is better.  It used to be a regular haunt of mine.

Yup.  I'm in.  I'm kind of in the neighborhood anyway.
We can have an "STN does the Calgary Motorcycle show" meet, followed by an "STN takes over Kings" meet.  Bigok

Hey Guys,

Count me in on this outing.  I am living in Calgary right now, so let me know what day you are going and I will meet you there.

You out of towners, if you need a place to crash for a night I might be able to arrange a soft landing at my place for acouple of you.

Cheers,

HiAsh

KLRChickie and I are planning on going Saturday.

The show is open Saturday 10am-9pm.
Kings is open 8am-2pm.

So, I suggest we meet up at Kings for an early lunch, and then head down to the show.
Thoughts anyone?

I usually like to knock off of work and catch the show on the Friday but this year a family ski trip is taking priority.  I am hoping to be back in town to catch it on Sunday before it closes. It's new bike year and the list is growing instead of getting smaller.....

Hmmm...about three weeks later or so, isn't that time for the Vancouver show?  I may try to make that one again this year...it's better for me than Calgary, since I have family in Abbotsford, and I can do business along the way (although, I guess I could do some business out in Alphabet Man's neightbourhood, too...)

Change that. I'm going now.  Bigok However, I'm just finalizing today who might come with me. Possibly a buddy, my daughter and her boyfriend, or maybe just me by myself, or any combination thereof. The size of my group and their wishes may affect whether I make it to King's or not, but I'll try.

Is there a specific time? And does anyone know the address?

Any motel suggestions? Everything in Calgary seems expensive these days.

Here is the map on King's website:
http://www.kingsrestaurant.net/location.html

I suggest using this website to look for a room:
http://www.discovercalgary.com/Calgary/WheretoStay/HotelsMotels/#
--sorry, no specific recommendations, not sure if you're going to find a "cheap" motel room in Calgary, by Saskatchewan standards! Bigsmile

May we suggest an early lunch - say 11am at King's?  Then we can go spend the afternoon at the show.  It would be best to have a head count so that the first ones there can grab a big enough table.

See you Saturday! Smile
