Thanks for the offer, Chris. The C10 is of mild interest, when I get in a "I'm getting older" state of mind (no offense to C10 fans intended). I still lust for sport bikes, but I can't have 'em all so I'm looking for something that serves many purposes.

It's a good do-all horse.........when it comes time to move on, i'm going to have a hard time parting with mine. who knows maybe I'l just keep her too......

The CB750 was innovative.
The Concours was iterative.

First of all I'd like to know where you figure the CB750 was innovative. The Big 4 japanese companies were all working on and refining inline 4 cylinder engines of
damn near identical set up all through the 70's and 80's. Kaw, Honda, Yam, and Suzy were all bantering back and forth with the 'fastest bike" and highest performing motors.

Please, tell me how the CB750 was innovative as compared to the Kaw KZxxx series bikes.

Well, I was going with the whole large-displacement, 4-cylinder, lighter-weight, overhead cam design starting in 1969 that eventually set the bar for all modern I4, Japanese-built (and some Euro designs) sport bikes that continue to lead the world in super sport and super-bike class racing today.

ya know... things like that.

From Wiki...

Quote

Cycle magazine called the CB750 "the most sophisticated production bike ever" upon its introduction.

Cycle World called it a masterpiece, highlighting Honda's painstaking durability testing, the bike's 120 mph (190 km/h) top speed, the fade-free performance of the braking, the comfortable ride and excellent instrumentation.

and so on...

Most people consider the CB750 something of an epoch; a game-changing entrant into the market place.

The CB750 was out in 1969 as a fourstroke inline 4cyl overhead cam engine... Kawi's Z1 wasn't out until late '72 as a '73 model..

In 1969 the biggest thing kawasaki had was the H1. A 500cc 2stroke triple. The predecesor to the H2 750.

Could either of those bikes smoke the Honda CB750?.. Hell ya.. but from an innovation standpoint, Honda set the standard for all the other big three to follow.

And I'm a Kawasaki fan.. weened on H2's and Z1's

I did apologize and I meant it. I find it highly amusing that you ragged on the Connie so long and bought another one. I think you like Connies like Ken H likes Sarah Palin.  So there.
