Anyone here using a Mag-Knight?  What do you like/dislike?  At close to $100, I'd like to know what you think before hitting the "Add to Cart" button.

I bought one but was never able to install it... you're supposed to set it out in direct sunlight for 15-30 minutes to soften it up enough that you can install it and it will conform to your bike's tank.  It's never sunny enough in San Francisco to pull this off  Lol  I tried heating it up with a blow dryer, but it was too difficult to attempt solo, and I could never keep a large enough area hot enough to easily manipulate.  I tried several different methods several different times and eventually gave up... it's been sitting in my garage ever since.

Not really a reflection on the performance of the product though... just that it was more difficult to install than I imagined.  It probably would have been a lot easier if I lived somewhere where it's hot... and my bike had been sitting in the sun along with the mag-knight so both were warm.

I went through a couple of them, and decided not to re-invest. Mine never fit exactly correct, eventually tore (probably due to frequent removal/reinstall for washing/waxing). They're just too expensive to last only as long as they do (at least for me).

I'm currently without a tank protector, and am thinking more along the lines of something like stompgrips, or something similar.

As usual, ymmv.

Hmmm... maybe it wasn't a heat issue for me then.  I could never get it to fit right, so I thought I wasn't getting it hot enough... it looks like maybe they just don't fit right.

I prefer the tankslapper: http://www.thetankslapper.com/

Simple, well fitting clear plastic. After about 3 - 4 years it gets worn but at only $16 it's easy enough to replace.

I had one on my XX and I liked it.  It fit fine, no wrinkles and the color match was good.  They are a little fiddly to put on.  They need to be exactly in the right place or they won't fit but with a hair dryer and some patience I got mine on perfect.  If you want to pull it off to wash the bike you won't like it because it will crack after you take it on and off a few times.  Once I had mine mounted I just left it alone and never had a problem with water or dirt getting behind it.  The tank was still perfect when I sold the bike.

The silver 02 CBR1100XX in the photo gallery is my old bike.

I don't need a tank bra. My motorcycle doesn't have breasts.

I started with a Tankslapper kit.  Didn't like the look (not as invisible as they claim).  Switched to a Mag-Knight and fit was perfect on my FJR (used the hair dryer technique).  A couple of years later and it is still doing its thing just fine and I can see just how much paint it saved (abrasion points).  I never take it off.  Two thumbs up!
