WTF!?! Yamaha stopped a great thing with end of the YZF600R. That bike pack more of punch than most realize (in more ways than one). Anywho, just sad to see it go.

It always seemed to me that the Thundercat was an underrated bike.  I've seen a lot of people sumarily dismiss this in favor of the latest/greatest 600 supersport.   Rolleyes  Shame, really.  I, for one, am sad to see it go the way of the FZR.

Cheers,

Joe

I agree, the YZF600R is a fantastic bike.  This was my wife's second bike, and was her transition bike from cruisers to sport/touring bikes.  We both loved it.  She only parted with it because the ergonomics were a bit cramped for her, and she wanted something more suited to long-distance comfort (she rides an FJR now).

We'll both miss it.

It was only a matter of time, the R6S and FZ6 were crowding into its niche. Which is sad because both are on either ends of its performance, but neither do everything as well as the YZF...

So I can describle my YZF as a "classic" now, eh?

In what regard? Where was the YZF superior? I was under the impression that the FZ was better except in wind protection. Maybe suspension? Was the YZF suspension adjustable for rebound and compression?
..just curious.

Very much so! It has a fully adjustible suspension. Outstanding fuel range as well. Not too many of today's 600's can put up 50+ mpg. I know the R6 can't, because my buddy gases up more than I do on our rides.

No kidding!  My wife regularly got 60+ mpg with her YZF600R.  Unreal.

The YZF was decided for the chopping block about a year ago because of upcoming emissions regs. A 10 year run is nothing to cry about, though. It was an excellent bike. I would characterize the wind protection and seating position as perfect. Build quality was superb. Power and handling were not lacking in any way. The suspension was fully adjustable, front and rear. As reliable as a stone. Long maintenance intervals. And 50+ mpg no matter how I flogged it. Lack of hardbags and frankly, looks, are what made me decide to sell mine.

Doesn't like the looks and then posts great pictures like those.  Good looking bike I always thought, classy.  The VFR of the 600's.

Lol  Just what I was thinking.  The 600R was a good bike, but all good things eventually come to an end.  My brother had one that I rode a bit.  Slightly underpowered.  Still a good all around bike though.

Oh like you wouldn't have a new bike if you were in my position!

And my KLR is no less ugly than any other...

The VFR of the 600's.

My thought exactly, sad to hear about the end of the run, but a good run it was.
