How can you own a bike for 10 years and barely average 50 miles a year? Man, that bike has got to be a basket case by now.
I wonder how many times the engine has come up to operating temperature. (is that 500 miles of riding around the block every couple weeks?)

"creative financing available"
I'll give em a booger a week for the next 15 years, is that creative enough or should I add a fart in a cup to up the ante?
My ten year old daughter ridden more miles than that.

I don't think I'd put very many miles on that bike either. Some one might recognize me.
BMW Cruiser? Not my cup of tea.

Don't knock 'em til you've tried 'em (and by trying one I don't mean a 10 minute test drive). The BMW cruiser is more capable of more things than most folks realize or want to admit just because they don't like the looks of it. Yet many of those same folks embrace the uglier than ugly R1200ST. And, I know where-of I speak having put nearly 120K on two R1200Cs over the past 7 years without a single problem from either one. That kind of mileage doesn't happen toddling around town or making 100-mile rides one weekend a month.
As for the price of the '98 C at $9995; they aren't likely to get even two thirds that when '00, '01, and '02 R12s are selling on the Internet for $7500 and less. Doesn't matter that it only has 533 miles, it is still a ten year old bike.

I suspect it's more common than we think.
I still remember one rider I met some years back at a diner. He had a lovely '60s vintage BSA with only 3K on the odometer. I asked him various questions about his bike: how well did it run, had any of the usual British gremlins affected his bike (electrics, carb, and so forth). He said that it ran well. I then asked him when he replaced the instrument cluster. He said that it was original. He was also the original owner. He rode it less than 100 miles a year. It was his only bike.

I like the R12C, I rode one for a couple of days while they worked on my RT. I was glad to be on the RT. I think some good suspension work would sort the cruiser out. I want one when I am old.
