December 9th is a toy run sponsored by Marin BMW:
http://www.marinbmw.com
but many other bikes/riders show up.
Its a chance to donate to a worthy cause and be able to ride like hell under CHP escort.

Well it was a beautiful day for riding.  There was a pretty good turnout of riders, and lots of toys  Bigok

Early photo, more riders showed up after this photo was taken

The rider of this 'busa won a $50 Gift Certificate for having the most festively decorated bike:

even had a red nose  Lol

Unfortunately, the ride lost it's "crash-free" record when a rider went down on Hwy 1  EEK!

I was near the front of the pack, so I passed the scene soon after it happened.  I first saw the riderless bike lying in the road and then glanced over and saw a truck with the rider rolled up underneath it Sad  I immediately felt like I had been kicked in the gut.  Not something anyone ever wants to see...

The rider was awake, speaking, and coherent, so hopefully he'll be OK.  There was nothing anyone could do, the CHP was leading the ride... so emergency response was pretty much instantaneous.  I called it a day after that and just headed home... I didn't feel much like riding anymore.

Be safe everyone.

Looks like a good turnout and I love those mirror antlers on that 'busa.

Sorry to hear about that crash. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to the rider.

Oh, no!    Sad  VFR02 and I dropped out of the ride at Pt. Reyes Station because I had a bunch more riding to do later--back to Rohnert Park and then down to Santa Clara after that.  So sorry to hear someone went down, it was a nice bunch of folks.  Hope they are o.k.

Great turnout. I'm not a math major but I counted 70 bikes and there were more pulling in the parking lot. Beerchug   Sorry to hear about what happened.  Sad  Any idea what caused it?

All I know is what I heard (so who knows how accurate it is), but they said the rider tried to take the corner too fast and crossed over the double yellow, and promptly collided with the truck  Sad

Thanks to all concerned about the downed rider. He is alive & lucky as well. The injuries to him are outer extremities.
Broken right wrist-3 dislocated fingers on the left-broken left heel/ankle-minor brusing on the forehead from the helmet. Has had 2 surgeries
I picked up the gear from the Bolinas FD today & the helmet took the impact very well. Money well spent.
The BMW LT was a loss & more than likley took most of the force . The pick up wasn't looking to good either.
The crash is still under investigation by the CHP
If you look at the first picture posted by luckydevil, the LT in the center of image was the one.
Any other pics of the crash ? The rider is curious........

Great job by those who had EMT skills !!!! Keep you posted.

I got a late start and followed last years route up Petaluma / Marshall Rd only to find out the group went the other way. I caught up with them and Floor U and his group in Pt. Reyes Station (PRS). I rode home from PRS.
Its always a shocking tragedy when someone collides with a car, but luckily for Bob, he will come through in time.........

Found some more pics here: http://www.southbayriders.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51052

Glad to hear the rider is relatively OK.  When I saw him under the truck I never wopuld have thought he would get away with the injuries he did.

 From Marin BMW's website:

http://www.marinbmw.com/

 2007 Toy Run Summary
Thanks to the 80+ riders that showed up and showered the CHP with gifts for the kids. It was another great ride, coupled with our first incident on a Toy Run. One rider low-sided their LT out by Dog Town and is doing just fine - currently resting at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with a broken wrist, broken right ankle/heel, broken left ankle/foot, and 3 dislocated fingers. There was no head trauma or spinal injuries - which is great news.

For those interested in sending him well wishes:

Bob Tidd
1260 N. Dutton, Ste 1220
Santa Rosa, Ca 94501
justfloorcovering@sbcglobal.net

Rumor has it that he's been complaining about not being able to ride this coming weekend and wondering why he needs to waste him time by laying around the hospital!!
