The throttlemeister works great, but is pricey. You might try the Caterpillar O-ring one...

I modified an inexpensive (under $20) Vista Cruise for my ZZR and am very happy with it.  The link below shows how it's done on an FJR, but the principle is the same for the ZZR.  The housing clearance on the ZZR is tighter, so I ended up using a tension pin rather than a screw and grinding it flush.  All you really need is a method to keep the lock from rotating, you don't need some rock solid attachment method.

You can get the Vista Cruise from Aerostitch or a number of other places.  Even if you look on ebay, you don't need any of the bracketry.

have you ever thought of electronic cruise control?  For about $100 and a few hours of garage time you can have cruise!!

Thanks for all of your ideas and suggestions. Spent a couple hours in the garage this evening and fabricated a home made ThrottleMiester. If anyone interested in the mod let me know. Thanks again.

First I would like to say that by calling this a ThrottleMiester type lock I am in no way implying that it is the same or similar, I have not seen a TM or know the mechanics of one. I am simply stating that it is similar in appearance because it has no thumb lock or external devices to make it look any different than stock bar ends. That said…..

Step 1- Remove bar end after measuring distance from throttle tube to bar end (my ZZR 1200 is 6mm)

Step 2- Drill 1/16” hole in shaft of bar end bolt just under head and insert slightly bent 1/16” spring steel pin, file or grind groves in bar end bolt seat so bolt inserts and locks in place.

Step 3- Cut 6mm wide piece of tube that is same size of throttle tube, insert 2 o-rings one on top of the other in recessed end of bar end then lay 6mm tube on top of that at reassemble.

Step 4- Screw in bar end till the throttle will not return to idle under its own power, unscrew bar end ¼ to ½ turn until throttle releases and has proper play to operate normally.

WARNING!!!! Modifications to original factory equipment are not recommended. In doing so you are assuming risk and in no way can hold others accountable. You are solely responsible. ( I never posted anything about throttle locks)

If you are interested in pics PM me with your email and I will send pics or you could educate me on how to downsize my pics so I can post the damn things!
Thanks,
Rob

Nicely done...Are you worried about the bar end unscrewing itself due to vibration, etc or is there something preventing that?

Shouldn't come loose, the o-ring keeps constant pressure on it and there was still quite a bit factory locktite on the bars as well as the additional Honda blue thread locker I put on. If I find it working loose I will post it.
