alright alright Y'all badgered me into signing up-- at least I didn't have a hard time figuring out a handle I just wanted to check in and let everyone know I had a blast. Even the low side was fun in its own way (thats me ^^sitting on the curb assessing the darning job that will have to be performed on my rain layer). Also wanted to thank everyone who helped me out afterwards. rather it was advice, bandaids or resolving the headlight issue, I really appreciated it. have a safe trip home everyone

Greetings to all from Hoosierville,
I had a great time on Saturday's ride. I wish I hadn't had to peel off and head for Lake City there towards the end, but family commitments being what they are.... Hat's off to Forester for a great selection of roads. My ST hadn't spent that much quality time in the power band for a while. The sides of the tires were happy to get some attention too. I hope the rain didn't mar the end of your ride like it did mine. From Kalkaska South it poured.
It sounds like Sunday's ride was a good time as well, other than The Soul's low side getoff. I hope you're ok and your duc isn't too scarred up.
Thanks as well to Sparky for the riding company on the way up Friday.
I've got a few decent photos that I'll post as soon as I reduce their size.

So you guys got wet Saturday night, huh? I stopped in Elk Rapids for a stretch and called my wife to check the weather. As it's ringing I feel the first drops. She tells me it's rain the rest of the way so I got to try out my new rain gear! At least it cleaned all of the bugs off the front of my bike!
Big thank you to Forrester who did a heck of a job putting this together! I have never been so tired after getting off the bike at the end of the day. And my be-hind was sure glad to get into the recliner at home! I also loved the Legs Inn. Have to take the wife there (probably kids too so I'll be caging it).
Hey Rob, you thought of changing your username to FiremanRob? Just a thought!

Check the Ducati portion of the forum later for a new thread - I assure you that you will not be able to miss it if you just search within the next few days. I'm glad you hung in there both days the whole way - one of a select few that got the whole experience. Bedlamite - What a trooper!!! Ride up through the UP, both full days nice moderately aggressive curve surfing, camping - major help fixing another motorcyclist's ride - and then all the way back through the U.P.! That is pretty kick ass, but I still say the Grendel trumps the 6.8. All - My apologies on a few U-turns here and there and lack of knowing even a rough idea of how much time these routes would take. I think 300 miles of scenic roads is a good standard for a solid day for a group ride - I was fairly worn out by the time we got to the South portion of the Leelanau on the second day... Along with you all, this is the first time I've ridden these routes in this direction and all pieced together. I thought they turned out pretty good - I wish I could have increased the meandering on the Sunday ride a tad, but keep in mind that I was working within the constraints of Michigan's (mostly) 640 acre section-slated square and straight roads, half of which are still unsealed...but I was able to find a few scenic roads to play on. Here's a few pics from the ride - including two I shot on 37's Sherman vista (better vistas on the ride along M-22 and other places), but this spot makes a good shot...

I had a great time, met some new riders and rode some new roads. Forrester did a fine job organizing the route and setting a fast but sane pace, he worked his butt off to put this ride together and I want to personally thank him for that. To think you can take that number of riders, few of which had ever ridden together, and cover the complicated roads of Northern Michigan as a group at a sporting pace and I never felt nervous. Much of that is because this was such a well planned ride. We need to do this more often . . .

Here's a quick link to my pictures from Saturday and Sunday on Flickr. What a great ride, weather, and roads; and I also have to hand it to Forester . I will ride w/ any of you dudes any time. Nice fast, but relatively safe pace. It's always nice to run up the coast in West Michigan. For future reference, the Restwood motel worked out nice. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dekruyter/sets/72157600276601473/detail/Below is the link to my local, Grand Rapids riding club; good dudes also. http://ridemotorcycle.com/Chapters/US-MI-Grand%20Rapids/html/US-MI-Grand%20Rapids.htmlMark (V-Strom DeKruyter; blue DL650) I know Mike had a good time too (red SV650)

We did, Forester was a great host and did a fantastic job putting all of this together. The roads where twisty, the company was good, and the weather cooperated, I can’t wait until next years annual region 4 MDW meet!! Welcome to ST.n Soul brother. Now we just need someone to make an icon for this little gathering.
