I'm in Virginia and left my bike at home in Calif back in Apr.  My brother just got around to firing it up and taking it for a ride.  Battery was stone dead, he left it on the charger overnight and it fired up.  He said it ran fine, no problem with oil pressure or temperature, but the 'check engine' light was on and won't clear.  Does anyone have any ideas what might be going on?

Thanks!

Yep - typical - he prolly tried to start it when it was dad.\
On my ST - you need to heat cycle 3 x and the light goes out.
Have him start it and run it until it comes up to temp - then let it sit an hour or so.
3X should clear the light.

If the battery was dead, or you disconnected it, you have to start the bike and run to warm, turn off and repeat 3 or 4 times and the check engine light will go off. This is a quirk of the computer and this is how to reset it. So nothing is wrong.  Thumbsup

Get a Tuneboy and you'll never need to guess what the light means.
