It is that time again boys and girls to see if there is any interest in a second annual
KOOTENAY BORSCHT, BURN AND BBQ !!!
I enjoyed meeting the bunch from last year and would be willing to host on the Friday night. I see GetFuzzy and alphabet man are already discussing it in another thread so it is high time we picked a date and discussed an expanded route for the ride. Maps and pics to follow ....
Monkey Butt Repair Units
So use this thread for ideas on when to hold the Burn and what routes you would like to see or activities we could indulge in! Perhaps some dual sport action this year as well!?!?!?!?!
Later, in early Spring I will post another sign up thread with more specific details on routes and activities as well as maps and directions.
Chime in !!!

I think doing Hwy 6 from Castlegar to Coldstream (or Lumby) and back would be a good full days ride (espescially with a stop for those phantom sticky buns) on Saturday. Sunday could do some roads south of the border (escorting some riders on the way home, to ensure the riff raff are out:lol: ) like Sherman pass or part of the Selkirk loop for those heading east.

That sounds like a good route John ... for additional length we could return/start via Kaslo ...

Hey bubba we could do Pass Creek road then Bonnington (2 nd secret road) to Nelson and then up to Kaslo. Would add an hour or so to the ride, should still get back by late afternoon. Once in Kaslo those interested in some adventure touring could head up to Meadow Creek over to Trout Lake then on to Galena Bay. From there they could go through Revelstoke and loop around a bit to Coldstream/Lumby. Or could go from Galena Bay down to Nakusp and do Hwy 6 and meet up in C/L.

Hey Dante, could you highlight the primary loop? Castlegar-Nelson-Kaslo-Nakusp-Fauquier-Lumby, back to Needles-Nakusp-Silverton-South Slocan-Castlegar. Thanks ever so much.

My pleasure. If you want, I can remove the non-essential map, so as not to confuse the massess. Just say the word!

) later on so as not to confuse but for now could you remove it?

Yea, wait until you get here before you get run over. Wouldn't it be better to be run over by friends rather than strangers?

For those that are interested there is another "secret" dual sport road from Slocan valley to Fauqier, then a short hop over hwy 6 to Cherryville and down the Kettle valley to Rock Creek (I understand DD is a expert on the Kettle Valley portion)

That's the one that follows the power lines. Tried that road once in a tercel 4x4 wagon, got to a washout and came back. Needs a vehicle with more than 5" ground clearance.

That was years ago, but I'm guessing it washes out fairly regularly as the water has to cross the road somewhere.

No worries Ralphy already had his 06 FJR down to the cabin, no drama at all.

And its even better when you tell the border guards that you going to stay with a man you've never met in person, only through the internet, and just for the one night

To a man that is not a worry ... only that on the way out, you mentioned it was quite a night! ...
... er ... I still recall you telling that .... too funny. Perhaps you should write a guide for "inter boarder etiquette when meeting online friends"

Crap and I ended up with Jim as an internet friend, I didn't know Collen was available, damn
That date sounds good for now, as far as sailing our little boat any one can do it when it's rigged properly the challenge is trying to figure out MY rigging and sail I'll stick to water skiing, much safer

The RCMP where far more concerned with Bubba's grow op in the back yard, he truley wants to be a real west kootenay local so a grow op is required as you should know having family in Nelson especialy seeing as he is living in Pass Creek
so the RCMP are not to concerned with a few bikes scooting around, and we get to roam and terrorize as we please .
The weekend is tentatvly scheduled for the weekend before the August long
hope you can make it

I ride to your part of the country fairly regularly from Quebec, having gone in 03, 04, and 05 on the Strom, to see family in Nelson.
When is this thingy you are planning scheduled?
I am a bit worried though as I notice from the picture of the bikes in front of the house, in the first posting that the house is under secret RCMP surveillance.
You and Baz were fast to notice that ... you guys can lead the ride !!!
Actually that was my next door neighbour .. he is very cool about bikes. He just moved this past weekend and I see the new neighbour has some kind of alcohol dragster trailer. Maybe he is just using it to move his stuff, but I hope he has a little nitro methane to share or at least sniff ... gawd I love the smell of that stuff!!!
Grow op .... er ... you mean my tomatoes .... lol !!!

I am always glad to do my part in corrupting little children
making little machine heads out of other wise normal children brings joy to my heart. If I remember correctly from your daughter's reaction in the boat (thowing her arms in the ear and yelling PIN IT, when I already was wide open) you are going to need more than 270 hp, gotta love that kid, we will have to take her for a ride when we don't have a full boat load

Hello All. I see you are all back in form after our little STN hiatus. I am looking forward to seeing you all again next summer. I am currently hiding out in Palm Springs California. I haven't done any riding but have played lots of bad golf. I plan on being home in plenty of time to join you for next summer's Borscht, Burn and BBQ. Did you know they don't even have clouds down here. It's absolutely amazing, sunny and 80 degrees every single day. Don't they get bored with the lack of weather down here?

I've been down to Castle Mountain sw of Calgary already but I fooked up my knee last summer while out your way. I am awaiting arthroscopic surgery Jan 19 to get it fixed - this is the third time so it should be a charm. My knees are getting old - I refuse too. I can zoom the groomed but anything off piste is just to much for my poor knee. Trust me I am not happy about this. I have told the Dr that if someone cancels coming into Christmas to slot me in at the last minute. The sooner I get it fixed the sooner I am back on the steep and into the deep. You guys are making me jealous. If there's no snow in the valley what about a New Year's day ride?? I can trailer a bike out if the weather man cooperates. I will be back out there on boxing day. Perhaps a round of Christmas cheer might be in order. Karen and I can host at her house in Rossland. I know she would be happy to see you all again. In the meantime
Season's Greetings to everybody.

That date sounds good for now, as far as sailing our little boat any one can do it when it's rigged properly the challenge is trying to figure out MY rigging and sail I'll stick to water skiing, much safer

Things are going better after recovering from slipping on the ice in the driveway. Still don't know what I'm going to get. One day it's a SM type bike, then a dual sport then back to a wee strom. I'm getting dizzy trying to figure out what I want. :crazy:I just got to make sure I have it in time for the BBQ.
