Q This probably isn't at the top of anyone's enforcement list, but it's a dangerous situation that I wanted to point out. On any sunny weekend afternoon, from about 1 to 4, groups of people riding very fast Japanese-brand motorcycles like to zoom down the southern end of Almaden Expressway, pulling various stunts and generally acting like 16-year-olds with too much horsepower. These riders gather at Almaden and Blossom Hill Road, then take off as a pack to set up for their run. Once south of Coleman Avenue, a few of them pull up to the front of each lane of cars at the stop light, and then slow traffic to a crawl once the light changes while their buddies do wild stunts like wheelies, front-wheel stands, etc. This practice is stupid and dangerous, not just for riders but for drivers in other vehicles. What can we do to help get some enforcement to quiet this down?

A Your plea has gone to both San Jose police and the California Highway Patrol. Unfortunately, the cops have to be in several places.
Q One Sunday, I was traveling on Highway 101. Near Capitol Expressway I noticed traffic slowing because some pickups were traveling slowly in each lane. As I got closer, I realized they were forming a blockade so that some morons on motorcycles could use the freeway to do acrobatic tricks! I wish I had a cell phone so that I could report this nonsense. . . . I want to express my frustration with motorcyclists and their
impeding of traffic to do tricks. One afternoon I was on Capitol Expressway near Eastridge when a group of 10 motorcyclists jammed all lanes from the mall to McLaughlin Avenue, causing traffic to crawl. Three or four of them stayed close to traffic, in essence holding us back, in order for the others to do their tricks. Drivers seemed hesitant to go any faster than they were being allowed by the motorcyclists. Is this legal?
