I just booked my room tonight.  I was told only 5-6 rooms left.  Get yours now before they are all gone.

Sounds like we'll be needing a roommate thread shortly. I guess I could call and ask, but are there only 5 or 6 room left in our initial block, or only 5 or 6 rooms left at the entire Inn? It's a big place and I have a hard time believing it's totally booked unless a large group is already there that weekend.

Just called 'em about that.  They've got (quote) "plenty" of rooms available that weekend besides the ones left under STN's original reservation.

Has registration for dinner and T-Shirt opened yet?  Or, did I miss something yet again?

Made my reservation tonight. I'll probably be planning a week to ten day trip around this meet. Should make a great "close" to end of season ride.

I made my reservations for the 26th & 27th. The lady said there's still plenty of rooms. I plan on riding up with some locals that are going.

The logo with the dead possom is awesome!  Thumbsup

Hey guys... i'm headed to the seneca rocks area next week.

I plotted some routes that are 200+ miles long and it doesn't look like i go past 1 gas station!!!  Is this a big problem in this area?  Is it common to have to go well out of your way to get gas?

You better know where to get fuel in WV. It can be 30 or 40 miles between gas stations sometimes. I don't know what routes you're taking, but gas is available in Canaan Valley, Parsons, Harmon, Petersburg, Mt Storm, Franklin, Brandywine, and a few places on 33 between Seneca Rocks and Franklin. There are a couple pumps in Seneca Rocks itself, but not sure if they carry premium or not (if you care). Of course Elkins has fuel, and there are stations south of Elkins on 219 including Huttonsville and one at jct 66 and 219, then nothing until Edray (Citgo? next to Marlinton Motor Inn) and gas in Marlinton itself.

As Garry indicated, they can be stretched out pretty far but they are around. Depending on what you're using to plot your routes it may not be listing all the small stations tucked away in the hills.

My rule for riding that area is: Don't wait to get gas till your running near empty unless you KNOW where your next gas stop is gonna be.  I'd rather stop and buy a half a tank than be looking for a station while on reserve back in that area.

Thanks for the heads up guys.

It must be that MapSource just doesn't have all of the gas stations on it.

I just checked out Marlinton and it doesn't show a station.

If you guys say there is no problem, then i'm with ya!  I'll probally get a spare metal fuel container just in case.

There's one in Marlinton and a Citgo north of Marlinton off 219 right past the place we're going to stay for ESTN this year...

There is gas at Seneca Rocks, middle grade. Bought 10 bucks at the general store to get to Petersburg on trip to WVa a couple of weeks ago. Had a great conversation with rock climber instructor who is constructing a cafe across street.

The key is to get gas when you can.

This is my first post after lurking for over a year. Just might take the W650 to Marlinton. It will be a blast on those roads.

Hmmm... I don't know if I'll be able to make it this year.

This could make for an epic trip, since I'm a new high school teacher, I can't take the Friday off*. That'd mean 600 miles of slab starting at 4 p.m. to get to Staunton, then 80-odd miles of twisties in the dark -- like, really dark -- with deer as spectators.

I'd be looking forward to Saturday, of course, for the great roads, good friends and drinking beer in a parking lot around our bikes. Then, Sunday, leisurely ride back up, probably on the slab again.

* unless I get a doctor's note. What are the odds of getting one that says "Mr. Corbeau is suffering from an acute case of sport-touring fever. The prescription is go riding on Friday. Stat."

Garry;

Gonna have to miss this one, I think.  Gonna be short of fundage.  I have to get tickets for myself and daughter to get her home from Arizona, then trying to get the money together for the trip to Indy for the MotoGP race.
