I just posted info on how to register for the group dinner in the "ESTN 2008: Group Dinner" thread. Time to sign up!

Peter and I are trading emails. Looks like the ESTN T-shirt will have the artwork on the front and a plain back. The STN oval logo just didn't look right on the charcoal gray shirt. Look for ordering info soon! Here's what the artwork looks like on the front of a charcoal shirt:

Anyone camping nearby?

Turns out I'm not going to the GP so this might be an option instead.  I found a website for a nearby state park but am not so sure if my first camping experience should include vault toilets and a coin operated shower.  Lol

If I ride my bike down to GA for work training (two weeks), I'll have the ESTN Meet weekend (Fri-Sun) to get home - and I get paid 8 hours for traveling on Friday.  I can't guarantee anything, but maybe I'll pass through on that Saturday, barring anything else coming up.  Would there be some floor space for rent for one night, maybe?

Okay, I am stupid.  Checked and the average low for that time of year is 40. If anyone wants to share a motel room Friday and/or Sat. let me know.

If I were going to camp  I would look into Watoga State Park before Seneca.  Trust me its alot nicer and just as close.  They also have really nice cabins there too.

I am going to get a room just for Friday night.

Cool.  I can't commit to anything anytime soon, but its good to know I have a chance of hooking up with someone else on a room if I end up going.   Thumbsup

If/when you can commit to a room definitely let me know.

I kind of prefer a sleeping bag on the floor to a motel bed anyway, so no issues there.

If you have a woman at home that's the jealous type, well I'm as good as married, like younger guys (I'm 25 so that rules out almost all of this site), and am surrounded by undergrads at work so no need to worry about me while I'm on vacation.  Lol

Nobody to answer to at home, but I'm out of your age range (like most on this board).   Wink

I probably won't know for at least another week or so if I'm even going.  If some of my old Maximum-Suzuki buddies come out to play that weekend, I'll spend time down along the BRP that weekend; if there are no plans with them, I should be in WV for this meet sometime Friday night or mid-afternoon Saturday (depending on my route from GA).  And I won't know for sure if I'm taking the bike or the car to GA for those preceding two weeks until the first week of September at the earliest.  It'll probably be a last-minute thing, and I'll just show up out of the blue and start asking around for a roommate for the night.  Its okay, though, I make friends quickly.   Bigsmile

I just mention it because some women are strange and freak out way too easily.  Rolleyes  I don't want to get there and get the "OMG, didn't realize you were female, need to get your own room" thing because I'm an unemployed grad student.  Lol

I am going to have to pick up a part time job soon, so I might need to do that then figure out if I can make it or not.  Ah well, I'm sure something will work out.

Just figured out I'll be able to attend.  Called and made my reservations for Fri and Sat night.  She said that there were still plenty of rooms available.

Anyone want to ride together coming from the NOVA area on Fri?

See you all there Smile

I would so like to go but the timing truly sucks -  Ihave class on friday afternoons and that week is mid terms. I'll be grading all weekend to turn in 6-Week Grades by Monday. The Naval Academy is not fond of late inputs, which is fair. Thanks, however, for giving me another cool destination. Regards, Duncan

OK, dumb questions (just re-found this thread!) Crazy Bigsmile

A) Is there a deadline for the shirt/dinner/route-book fee ($25 I believe)?

B) Where exactly is the inn located (i.e. physical address)?   Google's position looks to be different than what was mentioned in post 1: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=marlinton+motor+inn+rr+219&ie=UTF8&ll=38.227123,-80.039177&spn=0.104374,0.171661&z=12

Not that it looks to be too hard to get around town, me like!

For dinner and shirt info, check out the stickies on the top of the first page of Region 6

http://www.sport-touring.net/forums/index.php/board,31.0.html

And, you're right, the Google directions you got there are no good.

The approximate location of the Marlinton Motor Lodge is right here...

You order an ESTN T-shirt yourself. There is a sticky'd thread for it. Cost is $18 (includes shipping and helps STN). Deadline is Sept 12.

The group dinner costs $15 + $1 if you send money via PayPal (preferred). There is also a sticky'd thread about that. Deadline is Sept 12.

I will try to get some routes/directions printed up of 4 - 6 nice routes for Saturday. I need to compare my original cloverleaf with "R Doug"s version. I will use any extra money from PayPal dinner fees (the actual fee is closer to 75 cents) to make some copies.

I think you'll see at least two of our routes are exactly the same, the other two vary a bit.

If you concur with any of my GPS routes, feel free to post them on your ESTN website at motoroads.  Also, I would be happy to create any of the routes (yours or mine) in google maps and post them here.

Maybe you should start a thread with GoogleMaps versions of your loops, I can contribute some and anyone else familiar with the area can do so too. I have FTP space available if you want people to be able to download the Garmin GDB files.

Google Maps are up here...

http://www.sport-touring.net/forums/index.php/topic,29833.0.html

Keep in mind, Garry has a few routes he'll be posting too.  I believe SWRiverstone will be posting up some cool routes from his scouting trip as well.  So, don't start picking which ones you're going to do until you see them all.   Bigok
