CJ:

Thanks for the work looking up those routes, by stringing some of them together just like R Doug recommends is probably the best for an all day ride.

Is it me, or do those short loops seem designed for the "cruiser" or picture taking crowd?  :pokestick: Only one route over 200 miles? Shrug

Should be a great meet, one of the best riding areas in the east. Bigsmile

I am not that familiar with the routes, but they are mostly around Marlinton and have a lot of the local attractions listed. You have to stop long enough to take a least one picture of those tall, blurry, green thingies on the sides of the road.

There is a lot to see in the area,if you go 39 over the gap all the way to lexington pick up 501 off us 60 you can get to the D-day memorial easy and then work north to us 250 and have a heck of a good day and ride. The humpback bridge is intresting ,and avoid Summersville like a plauge,if you go to the bridge come from the south ,leave thru the south rt19 thru Summersville is a giant speedtrap with no mercy for even 5 mph over posted.
Cass and greenbanks are nearby and worth a look if you want to see stuff besides just ride. Its a neat area

+1  I like the detail about attractions in the maps you posted.

The Jefferson pools and the Homestead are well worth seeing.

Actually, 10 rooms booked already in the middle of winter for a rally at the end of September is pretty good IMO. I haven't done anything to push the event yet aside from getting the room block done. Expect to see more activity regarding ESTN in the coming month or so. Once the weather breaks people will start seriously thinking about the upcoming riding season and what trips to take.

I figured I should post an update on where things are for ESTN...

I've got an ESTN specific email account (estn2008@gmail.com) and just opened a separate checking account for ESTN money. Next week I should be able to tie them together via PayPal, so the online event registration payment mechanism will be in place.

Next order of business is to get the group dinner sorted out. The hotel restaurant has a number of meals available for $8.95. I'm hoping to get them to  offer a limited menu of those meals for $10 per person (includes a soft drink and tip). The plan would be that registrants get a meal voucher good for one of the options with registration.

I hope to score good quality T-shirts for $10 each (or close to that). Design TBD. There was a thread with some slogan/artwork ideas floating around. The phrase "Twisties, Hills and Roadkill" popped in my head driving to R Doug's last weekend.

I want to give everyone a route book/folder with maps, road info, etc. There will be some printing cost associated with that.

So my target is a $25 per person event fee to get you a meal, a T-shirt and a route book. Any extra $ will go toward beer or prizes or something.

This is a tentative plan, but seems workable. Once I have a route book started (electronically), I'm going to use that and an ESTN web site to help attract sponsors. No doubt I'll be looking for help schmoozing companies and shops for goodies.

I will more than likely be there.  I actually have a Sport Tourer this year, so I won't have to trailer it like last year.  Sparta was a blast, and this one sounds like its gonna be even better.  Can't wait.  Thanks to everyone that put this thing together.

It'll be very hard to beat the job Steve/ServiceRifle did last year. He kicked some serious ass  Thumbsup

But I'm going to do my best, and with the help of a few others, hopefully we will have a fun, successful event as well.
