Most excellent footage taken at a Daytona boardtrack event. The film was found under the death bed of a woman in Czechoslovakia.

 Thumbsup Cool

Nice find Jeff! Could you imagine holding onto a rope tied to a tow bike so you could get your racebike started  Crazy
..and then people are standing on the track too.. Lol  Nuts

We people of the 21st century are not made of such stern stuff anymore.

The way the bikes bucked around over the boards on their skinny tires looks spooky to me, especially knowing what they were, or more to the point, weren't wearing to keep the splinters at bay if they fell off.  212 km/h is around 130 mph.  I can't imagine going that fast on what amounts to a bicycle with a mediocre frame and lousy wheels.

Excellent video!  I had read of boardtrack racing in some old Cycle magazine articles from the late 60's.  Love those "clouds" of dust and splinters, those guys really had balls.  I didn't know that there was sidecar racing on the boards.

Wonderful timing Jeff!

I'll let you in on a little secret.  In a "last minute" sort of decision I've decided to join my brother in law (Daniel Kalal of Moto Guzzi fame) at Daytona Bike Week to watch the Moto Guzzi's run and take in a bit of flat track racing for a few days (4)!  It will be many firsts for me.  First time in the South, first flat track races, first time watching Moto Guzzi's race...oh yes, and Becky insists that I mention; first time seeing Manatees.

This is a wonderful, historical film...I loved it and gives me a sense of the history I'm going to be seeing.

Thanks buddy!   Thumbsup

Your secret is safe with me.  Lol

You lucky SOB. Take lots of pics and post them here. Take in some cole slaw wrestling, too. Becky doesn't have to know about that part of your itinerary.  Wink
