For anyone who is interested, I would like to host a gathering to watch the Long Way Down on Saturday February 9, 2008.  We'll enjoy watching Ewan and Charlie's adventure on the 52" Plasma w/ Yamaha Dolby Digital sound, talk about how we wish we could riding instead of watching a movie about riding, drink some beers, and plan our next adventures in 2008.

We'll start the DVD series at 2PM and should finish up a about 6 hours later.  If you would like to stay over, you are more than welcome.  I could rent Torque to watch later that night (j/k).  Also, we can head out to IHOP the next morning for some breakfast.  I'm always looking for an excuse to go get breakfast!

For dinner, we'll either order in Pizza or Chinese.  We'll just keep it simple.

If you're interested, post up so Sheri and I can get a head count.  If you need directions, send me a PM.

Thanks.

Paul, I'll buy the beer.   Thumbsup

(Garry may have to bring his own because he's a self-proclaimed beer snob Lol )

I always have New Castle and Mich Ultra in stock.

For those who will be staying, I have the Nicky Haden documentary which aired on MTV.  It's actaully pretty good.

I'm in Morgantown, West Virginia.  However, there are a lot of Jersey students who attend WVU.

The closest airport to me is MGW.

No worry.  We have two very comfortable couches and one air mattress.  You will not have to sleep out in the garage.   Bigsmile

Regarding weather, it's still a week and 1/2 away.  I don't trust weather forcasts that far out.

I will be bringing some of Sierra Nevada's finest (Celebration Ale and Bigfoot Barleywine) to satisfy the hophead in me. I can also bring along the Long Way Round DVDs if you want to OD on Ewan and Charlie into the wee hours of the morning.

What time does this gig start at (2pm still the plan)? I've got a good 90 minute drive to get there...

It was good to see velofish (John) again.  I haven't seen him since we left him and his Guzzi for dead at the burger run last year.   Lol

I've only watched the first 3 or 4  episodes of LWR, but LWD seems to be about the same with different scenery.

I wonder why they don't use lighter weight bikes? Lots of folks manage to carry lightweight camping gear and supplies on bikes like the KLR. They regularly bitch about riding 800 pound bikes, so why not use a better tool for the gnarly bits?

I found the LWA a bit more entertaining simply because it was their first time and all of their experiences seemed more personal.

The LWD wasn't bad at all, I did enjoy it.  They seemed more prepared this time.  But, there were some surprises and twists.  That's inevitable for a trip of this size.

Just wanted to say thanks Doug for hosting.  It was good to everyone again.

I think it's inevitable that LWA would be better than LWD.  With LWD they had a model of success they were trying to emulate instead of just figuring it out as they went.  It was the "figuring out" part that made the first one so good.  Also, those guys get whinier as they get older.

I can put up with the whining though because they are getting Adventure Touring out in the mainstream.  No one's really managed to do that before.

Next up.. Neil Peart and Alton Brown in South America on KLR's.
