Thanks for hosting the get together Doug. Had a nice time. Enjoy the DVDs I left behind. I'll pick them up next time we ride together...

I appreciate everyone showing up and hanging out.

It was good to see velofish (John) again.  I haven't seen him since we left him and his Guzzi for dead at the burger run last year.   Lol

Evil bastards.  I put some sugar in the KTM's gas tank.  It'll make the ride sweeter, I promise. Wink

Thanks for the hospitality, Doug.  Good seeing yins again.  See you again on the Burger run.

Glad to hear you guy's had a good time.  How does long way down compare with long way round? Any better or worse, same thing with different scenery?

I've only watched the first 3 or 4  episodes of LWR, but LWD seems to be about the same with different scenery.

I wonder why they don't use lighter weight bikes? Lots of folks manage to carry lightweight camping gear and supplies on bikes like the KLR. They regularly bitch about riding 800 pound bikes, so why not use a better tool for the gnarly bits?

I found the LWA a bit more entertaining simply because it was their first time and all of their experiences seemed more personal.

The LWD wasn't bad at all, I did enjoy it.  They seemed more prepared this time.  But, there were some surprises and twists.  That's inevitable for a trip of this size.

Just wanted to say thanks Doug for hosting.  It was good to everyone again.

I think it's inevitable that LWA would be better than LWD.  With LWD they had a model of success they were trying to emulate instead of just figuring it out as they went.  It was the "figuring out" part that made the first one so good.  Also, those guys get whinier as they get older.

I can put up with the whining though because they are getting Adventure Touring out in the mainstream.  No one's really managed to do that before.

Next up.. Neil Peart and Alton Brown in South America on KLR's.
