Thanks.  Thumbsup

I had to call the Red Cross and get a total from them, as I've gone through or misplaced some of them too.

I donated when my mom had surgery since we are the same type. Just in case it was needed.

Bump.

I donated last week.

I don't know my lifetime amount -- not as much as some people in this thread.

I got a free pound of coffee.

That certainly makes it worthwhile! http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Coffee/lovecoffee.gif

The third blood drive that I put together for our dealership was a success, with all donation slots filled (the drive was 1/13).

Here's a pic from last year, but this thread wasn't up then.  Regular donor here.

Pro-tip:  if you're donating platelets and you have a suspicion the needle isn't sitting quite right 'cause it kinda stings, don't tough it out.  Freaking tell them.   Lol

I'm over the 10 gallon mark. Donated two weeks ago and got a T shirt, (2) tickets to the Harrisburg Auto Show and a chunk of Lebanon bologna. I love the ladies at the blood bank, they're all a great bunch. We all have kids about the same age so we have play dates and get togethers. We're all friends on facebook too. lol

I look forward to donating blood not only to help those in need but to also enjoy the company of the employees at the BB.

Ouch. Was it anything worse than bruising?

Kudos to you for donating platelets.  Thumbsup

Nah, just a bruise.  Didn't even hurt, to be honest.  It did freak me out enough to go to the doctor (their reaction was priceless  Lol), but no harm, no foul.

Nate, those photos look waaaay too familiar. I used to be a regular donor, but given hard-to-locate veins necessitating multiple sticks, and the tendency of the veins to to collapse before completing the 'fill', my arms looked like that 1 out of every 4 donations. After 8 years I finally gave up; couldn't take the pain, 'shockiness' and failures any longer.

Kudos to all of you donors!

Bump.

Related to blood donations, here's this cat in the news:

Adopt Me! Blood Donor Liberty Has Saved Hundreds of Lives

http://www.peoplepets.com/people/pets/article/0,,20570909,00.html?xid=icanhas

Quote
Home. Some cats and dogs never have one to call their own. We want to help change that by introducing you to an extraordinary homeless pet every week. Today, we'd like you to meet Liberty, an 8-year-old kitty who is a hero to over 250 felines.

A former blood donor, healthy Liberty has given her blood to cats in need for a good portion of her life. A resident at the Hudson Valley Humane Society in Pomona, N.Y., for the past three years, Liberty is looking for a loving home to live out her retirement.

(I'm sipping coffee from my free pound from my last donation as I type this.)

I'm an O-, so I try to make myself go as often as I can.
New job regularly hosts blood drives, so that makes it easy - plus I get paid for it.
