What kinda Trunk?
fuzytech:
I've been thinking about getting a Top Case to put on my Connie. And looking around I see so many options and different styles, as well as prices Yikes! I'm not really looking for something super expensive or extremely durable because I probably won't be doing anything really long distance. At least not yet. What I need is something decently made, durable for the hot weather and with a backrest for my boss, err i mean wife.
I came across these on concours.org and it looks pretty nice and it's cheap!

I also saw this one, it looks pretty spiffy and has a nice backrest.

Has anyone ever tried either of these? Any recommendations?

This what I have. I bought the whole lot of E bay for $150 + shipping.
Its a Givi, I have a base plate for one I can sell you for a small fee + shipping.
I have done lots of miles with mine, it detaches with the turn of a lock and the push of a button. It installs with a firm push down onto the base pate till it clicks in to place.
My Givi also has the optionality installed backrest.

The JC Whitney medium sized trunks appear to be made by GIVI. I have a buddy who has one on his BMW R 1200RT & is happy with it.
I have a JC Whitney small on my Bandit. The quality is good for the price. I'm happy with it functionally. In terms of looks. it as tall as the medium trunk and seems a bit too tall on the bike. If I were to do it again I think I would have bought the JC Whitney Medium.

Murph also sells SHAD brand top and side cases, a Spanish company iirc. I don't do the top case myself, although I did put the SHAD mounting plate on mine to use as a small cargo platform. I may add the box at some point, but I don't think I would like the higher weight and additional drag... FWIW, Murph has the full set on his personal C10, and they look awesome- saw it at the COG national rally in WV last August. I would switch in a minute if I had the money!!
