Slow day on the board.  I'm bored with obsessing over every nuance of the rides on my short list so I need to lengthen the list.  If you can, describe your Speed Triple in one word (liberal use on hyphens permitted).

I really must have a triple of some form in my stable at some point and the S3 seems the most likely suspect.  I'm just really having a tough time with the bugs eyes and instrument cluster.

Tooawesomeforoneword.

I love the S3.  It isn't for everybody- people either seem to hate the looks or love them.  I think the bug-eyed headlights are very distinctive and cool.

Got to ride a lightly used '06 today.  I was really hoping (but not expecting) a ride would leave me cold - ya just another bike, no big deal.  No chance.  I didn't get to wind it up much but 6K RPM was enough to crown a new most favorite motor.  I didn't think an inline could run so smooth or easy.

Balance is great.  Handling from what I could tell was at least good enough for my riding.  Ergos seemed to be pretty much perfect - relaxed sport.  Definitely scores  Bigsmile Bigsmile Bigsmile Bigsmile Bigsmile Bigsmile Bigsmile Bigsmile Bigsmile

Is it enough for me to seriously consider exercising some financial irresponsibility?  A good night sleep will tell.  So is that my one word, irresponsible?

As sick as this sounds I may have them hold it until March.. I live in MA, and we got salty/sandy roads right now, might have them leave it in the box until I feel better about subjecting a brand spanking new bike to the local roads.

Man, I miss that.  The Missus didn't care for Apex (or NC for that matter) and if momma ain't happy, nobody happy...so I am back in WI.

Oh well, I still get to ride 10 months out of the year. I remember some VERY cold rides on Jan/Feb mornings when I was in NC...so I can fool myself into thinking it wasn't THAT great.

Later.

Congrats!   Bigok  Wait as long as you like, but if it were me, I'd want that bad boy in my garage ASAP.   Inlove  My Triumph has never been phased by the occasional salty winter ride.

I was thinking the same thing.   Smile  Better sitting in my garage during snotty weather than in a crate somewhere.  You never know when the weather will change drastically for the better and you get a chance to ride, even if it's just for a few hours...

When were you here last?  Chances are there's a whole lot more of Apex not to like - unless the Missus wanted clear cutting and shopping centers on every corner.

Yes there still are SOME very cold mornings - 2 or 3 so far this year.  I know.  Go  Twofinger myself some more.

It's official.  Break in sucks but this bike rocks!  Pictures don't due the Speed Triple justice.  In person it works.  This bike may even last longer than the honeymoon.  That'd be a nice change.

Thanks.  I really liked the black but the blue is pretty sharp.  I'll lurk around for a bit and see what people are saying at triumphrat.  I'm already down to 4 or 5 hours of sleep a night.  The body won't take too much more.

Is OMGthisbikerips one word?  This thing is freekin unbelievable.  I take a chance and spend a few miles going through the motoguy's break in recommendation and the damn thing stands up on its ass end in second gear and all I did was roll on the throttle!  God I love this bike.  Good thing I'm wearing a full face  Bigsmile

I'm really impressed at how easy it is to ride smoothly.  Throttle response, even off the stop, is smooth.  Balance is superb.  Matching revs is easy.  And that sound...

I hate you.

Mine is still in the crate, at the dealer, and we just got 6" of snow/sleet/hail/rain here..

Green looks bad on me sorry.

I am glad that Triumph rectified the egregious mistake they'd made in '05 and '06 by not offering the coolest color- Roulette Green.

AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!

So the question I keep asking myself is - when I have the money again for a bike, do I go sensible and get a Tiger or follow my Id and get another Speed Triple?  Headscratch

Thats a tough question. If the new Tiger was around last year I might be riding that now but not sure. Put a single sided swing arm and underseat (ala S/T) exhaust on the new Tiger and its trade in time...

Yea, right?
I would've bought that color hands down over the "pee" color i have now  Bigsmile
Its my most favorite-est-est color ever.

Although i do like the "pink" too. What was that called? Atomic red? Nuclear red?

I'm not familiar with the term.  Lol

If you were "sensible", you'd be driving a Buick  Wink

I try to pick the one that makes my legs get wiggly  Smile

Well, that'd probably be the Speed Triple then.... Bigok

I'm hoping maybe around Christmas time, but it would involve getting a loan which I'm not super excited about. I haven't had a loan on a vehicle ever except for my first bike and the Fuckenstein and I promised myself I wouldn't do that again. But.... for a Triumph I might have to make an exception.

Hmmm.  Lemme contemplate for a nanosecond.  Look, I don't know if you prefer chocolate or vanilla, Red Socks or Yankees, foofoo latte or house blend, but there is one thing about Bizarro everyone knows - it's Speed Triple.  Come on.  If you go Tiger you'd have to change your screen name.  It's like Bizarro and Speed Triple are synonymous.  I'd be surprised if your first impression of the Tiger wasn't "nice bike but these bars have got to go."

Besides, contemplate this.  Dec 07 trying to find a left over '07 Tiger.  Strike one.  Trying to find a dealer to make a deal on the left over '07 Tiger he doesn't have.  Strike 2.  Trying to find a used '07 Tiger.  Out on strikes.

S3?  Not so.
