Well I'm toying with the idea of picking up a Versys, but after having owned a Vulcan 500 and a YZF600R, I swore I'd never again own a chain-drive bike that didn't have a centerstand.  So, what are you folks doing?  Push & clean?  Rear track stand?  If a track stand, which one(s) do you like for this particular bike?

My chain maintenance is minimal. I do on rare occasion spray on some Teflon, but that's about it. All the bike's I have had with chains got this treatment and still lasted what I would call a normal life. Maybe 10,000miles some close to 15,000miles. bete..  PS: I do have a rear stand. Can't remember the brand ,but got it on EBAY.

I made my own trackstand and usually just spray the chain with WD-40 after I wash the bike.  I did lube it once on a long trip by having a buddy roll it while I sprayed.....Pita.  I have over 24,000 miles on my stock chain on my 650R and have only had to adjust it maybe four times.  Modern O-ring chains rock!

Is a center stand not even an option on the Versys?

I have a paddock stand that I use at home for chain and tire maintenance.

I use a homemade device when out on the road for chain and flat tire repair. It just fits under the right side peg with the kickstand down. Just push the bike over far enough on the kickstand  to fit the stiffleg under the peg and lift the rear tire off the ground. It is steady enough to do tire repair or chain lube.

I appreciate your comments and interest, but the design already belongs to someone else, all I did was use some different materials to make mine.

As far as selling them, it takes me too long to make them, and then with shipping and all it wouldn't be worthwhile for me or you.

Too much hassle for what I would make , then there's the liability issues, taxes, yada yada yada.

Best just to take the idea and run with it, find a friend locally who has the skills, and bribe him with a twelve pack, or what ever.

Regards  August
