The only serious motorcycle racing track west of Ontario is going to be closed down as Calgary City Council reneges on an original lease to 2025. The track has been given notice for October 2009. See story here:

http://cmgonline.com/magazine/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=350&Itemid=81

One city alderman, Ric McIver, is asking the city to negotiate with the race track to find them another location and give them more time. He points out that the track brings a lot of business to Calgary.

If, like me, you have brought business to Calgary because of that race track, you might want to send an email to the mayor here: themayor@calgary.ca

I couldn't get the emails for all the alderment, but if you go to the webpage below you can click on individual pictures and get a submit a message form for a particular aldermen. You might want to send a "way to go" message to Rick McIver.

Yup, it does!  However, it's usually warmer than Edmonchuck and at least we've had a track for a while.  Twofinger

It's a real Bummer with Race City closing after two more seasons.  There has been much talk of it on the local Calgary motorcycle forum.  I'm doing some suspension work and other mods on my Z1000 this winter to make it better on the track.  It's seeming a little late now, but at least I'll get a couple of seasons out of it.  If a group doesn't come forward with a plan and funds to build another track, I think that there will be a number of track prepped bikes for sale in this area.
