Anybody done long distances on an F2? Found one locally for cheap and I am trying to get rid of my 2000 VFR, but I'd like something I could do a long trip on if I want to...

I had an F1 hurricane 600 and used that bitch to go on several 1000 mile+ trips. Never an problems, the F2 wasn't terribly diffrent. Those motors are bullet proof,my friend I sold the bike 2 has over 60k on it and it starts right up first starter push no matter if its 4 degrees or 104 degrees out.

I did several multi hundred mile trips on my old F2. Its very comfy by modern middle weight bike standards. Dead reliable if it hasn't been abused (club footing the shifter can bend/wear out shift forks and starting and riding off like its a car can cause the hydraulic cam chain tensioner to fail). The tupperware bodywork can make maintenance annoying, but other than that, it a really good bike.
But it won't be as good as your Viffer. Why you getting rid of it?

Agree essentially to what the previous posters have written. It's a very versatile and reliable bike. I've owned two F2s and still have one now. Have also comfortably toured much of central Europe with it.

I've did some sport-touring on my 94 CBR 600f-2. I bought it new in 94 and since then have put 102,000+ miles on it. I've rode many long distances trips on it inclueding a Saddle Sore IBA ride over 1,200 miles in a day. There are some mods I made to make it a bit more comforable that stock but its not to bad in stock form, I put on a sport-touring windshield have the stock seat custom made by Sargent and I put stock VFR (98-01) handle bars on it. thats all the comfort mods I have also installed driving lights off the mirror mounts and a tailbox mounted to a Ventura rack witch is still avalable for the f-2/f-3's.

Ten years ago I rode from Los Angeles to Boston on my '91 CBR F2. The bike didn't miss a beat; but my hands were a bit numb (ulnar neuropathy) from the vibrations and the slight lean forward. 5 years later I took the return cross country trip on the same bike. That time with foam grips and no hand problems.
I'd do it again if I still had the F2... no hesitation.
